4A Games Assure Fans of Always Bringing Metro Games on PC

4A Games Metro

After an individual developer’s threat of not launching any future Metro titles on PC, 4A Games took to Twitter to announce that this is not the case. According to a tweet made by the official Metro game account, 4A Games announced that Metro will always come out on PC and its fans are very important to them.

Earlier, a member from 4A Games development team had shared his feelings on a Russian forum by saying that fan reactions are very disappointing and if Metro Exodus boycott is successful on PC, all future Metro titles will not come out on PC at all.

After this went viral, 4A Games officially responded by saying that he the developer does not represent the whole 4A Games development team and they will always release Metro titles on PC. One individual cannot speak for the entire company.

Naturally, the developer’s comments had sparked more fan outcry across the social media which led to 4A Games issuing a statement themselves regarding the game. Their official tweet stated

The recent decision to move Metro Exodus from Steam to the Epic Game Store was made by Koch Media / Deep Silver alone.

The recent comments made by a member of the 4A Games development team do not reflect Deep Silver’s or 4A Games’ view on the future of the franchise. They do reflect the hurt and disappointment of a passionate individual who has seen what was previously nothing but positive goodwill towards his work turn to controversy due to a business decision he had no control over. We respectfully ask that any and all valid feedback over this decision is directed at Koch Media / Deep Silver, and not the developers at 4A Games.

The future release strategy of the Metro series lies with Koch Media / Deep Silver. Our decision to partner with Epic Games was based on the goal of investing in the future of the series and our development partner at 4A Games. We have every intention of continuing this franchise, and a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans.

This statement indeed proves that the developers have no saying where the game is being launched. The decision to move from Steam to Epic Games Store was entirely done by Koch Media/Deep Silver and because of their decision, the developers are feeling down after fans are angry and taking out their frustration on their past work.

Earlier, fans had started review bombing Metro games released on Steam which led to both Metro titles having mostly negative reviews. This seriously hurts a game’s reputation and more on that the developers’ hearts who worked tirelessly on a video game only to get it review bombed by fans for something they have no control over.

This whole saga started after Deep Silver/Koch Media decided to release Metro Exodus on PC via Epic Games Store and skipping Steam for one whole year. This led to angry fans who had already pre-ordered the game and claimed that this was fraud on the publisher’s behalf.

Metro Exodus is slated to release on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Epic Games Store on February 15, 2019.
