62-Player Historical RTS War Selection Releasing on Steam Early Access Next Month

Developer Glyph Worlds has announced that their historical RTS War Selection is releasing on Steam in Early Access next month. War Selection offers massive strategic combat where up to 62 players can duke it out at the same time. The game features progressions from one era to another thus making the game even more interesting as battles will be fought with different eras at the same time.

Players will be able to lead their empire from the stone age into the modern industrial centuries of various cultures and civilizations as they take over other hostile players at the same time. Glyph Worlds has released a brand new trailer for the game as well which details base-building and management gameplay which is heavily inspired by the early RTS games of the 90s.

As players advance through the ages, they get improvements which allow them to get the edge on their opponents. Players who advance to modern tech will be able to secure the future of their people and players who fail to adapt and innovate, will be left dead on the field of the battlefield with their primitive technologies.

Check out the War Selection Early Access announcement trailer below.

Players start right from Stone Age when the game starts and then they must choose their path to victory by advancing through the eras according to their own playstyle. Each era offers unique technological upgrades and visual style based on their culture. If players choose Asia during the Iron Age, they will get a different set of bonuses as those who choose Europe during their Iron Age. Similarly, different nations offer their own unique bonuses to players.

War Selection also offers both single and multiplayer modes and even comes with its own Battle Royale mode where 62 players can fight at the same map. As time progresses in the game, players with the smallest armies are automatically wiped out so players must ensure that they continue to expand and fight with others at the same time.

War Selection uses a custom-built GlyphEngine which was custom built for the game by Glyph Worlds. This engine was developed by keeping online strategy and MOBA features in mind and also supporting a tremendous amount of active objects along with 64-player online games. CEO of Glyph Worlds, Roman Budkeev said:

We can’t wait for players to get their hands on our game come October. We are huge fans of RTS games and we set out to make the kind of game we love to play ourselves. I hope that players will pick up on that energy we put into the game; our passion for the RTS genre.

According to the official press release, key features of War Selection include:

  • Tons of Units and Buildings – More than 100 different buildings and 200 different kinds of units (Land, Sea) are present across the ages.
  • Customize Your Culture – Choose which culture you will align with as you advance through the ages, carving your own distinct path through history. Begin in the Stone Age, and specialize in European or Asian cultures as the game progresses to unlock specialize technologies, buildings, and units.
  • Massive Multiplayer Wars – Over 62 players on a single match leads to true chaos as wars break out all over the map.
  • Varied Modes and Competitive Styles –  Against players, fight in free-for-alls, team battles, or massive battle royales.

War Selection is slated for release on PC via Steam Early Access on October 8, 2019.
