In an interview to GameSpot, the Pokémon Director Junichi Masuda has revealed that the 2019 core entry Pokémon RPG will allow players to import their Pokémon from the previous game Pokémon: Let’s Go which is due to come out on Nintendo Switch next month.
Ever since Pokémon games have come out on Nintendo systems, the developers have been working hard to ensure that die hard fans of the series do not lose their hard earned Pokémon when each new game comes out.
For the 3DS console, the Pokémon Bank service does this job where all Pokémon captured by the players are stored in a central location or a ‘bank’. Players can access these Pokémon from any of their mainstream 3DS Pokémon games allowing them to continue their journey with the favorite Pokémon in any game they like.
Since this feature was only available for the 3DS titles, now that Nintendo Switch is getting its first proper Pokémon title next month called Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! Or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! it is important that players get a chance to import their hard earned and trained Pokémon to the upcoming 2019 core Pokémon RPG when it comes out just a year later. This could be even less than that.

When asked this question, Pokémon director from Game Freak mentioned that they had this already planned out and for this, they are ensuring that all players will be able to import their Pokémon from Let’s Go to the new 2019 RPG title. His official statement to GameSpot was
“We’re definitely always thinking of that kind of forward-moving functionality, especially since we’ve introduced Pokémon Bank, Now, up to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, you’re able to store your Pokémon, and we know they’re very important to everyone. I mean, obviously, people would be very sad if they couldn’t use their Pokémon in a future game. So, it does get complicated when you talk about the details and we’re still figuring it out, but we do have plans to find ways to let players use their Pokémon in the next game.”
This makes it safe for players to invest time and hard work to the upcoming Pokémon: Let’s Go since they will be able to import them next year to the proper Pokémon RPG coming to Nintendo Switch. Pokémon: Let’s Go already allows players to transfer certain Pokémon from the mobile version, Pokémon Go so adding the import feature to the upcoming 2019 game just made sense.
Pokémon: Let’s Go is coming out on Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018 and will feature the original Kanto region Pokémon along with Meltan a new Pokémon when players link their Switch game with the mobile Pokémon Go game.
