The Surge 2 Boss Battles Guide
Below we have detailed the bosses and how you can defeat them in The Surge 2.
Boss #1 – Warden Garcia
Warden Garcia is a human boss that you will have to fight in the early stages in the game. Garcia likes to begin the fight by being aggressive and wants to bring the fight to you. The first attacks that he performs is by running towards you and then leaping at your location. When he does go for this attack, you have the best opportunity to dodge and then sent forth a barrage of melee attacks. This is the best way to deal damage in the early stages of the fight.
Warden will also occasionally send out fireballs that explode in a small area. You have to be aware of these as he shoots them out unpredictably. This boss fight is pretty easy if you can dodge the Warden’s attacks but also keep on the pressure by slashing at him when he misses with his attacks. Continue with this dodge and slash technique and you will drain his health and eventually defeat him.
Boss #2 – Little Johnny
This boss is a three-legged spider-robot enemy that you will have to fight and defeat. This fight is a little technical and requires you to weaken Little Johnny by overheating this giant machine. Little Johnny has 6 different cooling tanks that need to be taken down. These are located on the various part of Little Johnny’s body. Start by slashing them off from its legs, and then going for the torso.
The attacks of this boss include swinging of its long legs and trying to wipe you out. Occasionally, this boss will also stomp its feet at your location and you will have to completely dodge this attack. After doing this, you can continue by focusing on its tanks. With each cooling tank you take out, the more Little Johnny gets close to overheating. Take out all the cooling tanks, and then the boss will overheat and die.
Boss #3 – Brother Eli
This is another boss fight that demands your dodging skills and then going for melee attacks. The area where the fight ensues is quite tight and small, this is where you will find it difficult to dodge, especially if you have been pushed to a corner.
Brother Eli will seem stationary at some moments, but you have to be aware of his attack as it can instantly take you down and end the fight against your favor. Make sure you can dodge in time and then go for your attack. If you get carried away and get caught up with his attacks, you will be dead in a few more hits.
The good thing about this boss is that he takes a long time to swing his weapon. You have ample time to dodge this or steal a quick hit to leak some of his health. Any attacks that he misses will give you the best window to attack Brother Eli and then take him down.
Boss #4 – Captain Cervantes
Captain Cervantes fight happens in a dense and dark forest, where the boss likes to bring the fight right at your face. Be careful of his attacks as he covers ground quite quickly to get near you. As you can expect, dodging and then attacking is the way to go.
Captain Cervantes requires a lot of hits to deal with damage. This is where you need to make sure that your character is strong enough that you can deal a decent amount of damage with your melee hits. To progress in the fight, you have to rinse and repeat with the dodging and then attacking from the side.
Cervantes likes to jump at your location and then perform a slashing attack. He will also turn slightly invisible just as he is about to perform an attack. This leaves him vulnerable for a few seconds and allows you to go for a couple of hits up close.
Boss #5 – Delver
You have to be extra careful with this boss, as the action begins right when you drop down a large hole to fight Delver. He immediately introduces himself with a pouncing attack and continues to grab you with its claws. If you get too close, it will then perform a series of claw slashes that can easily take a quarter of your health away from you.
The best way to take it down is to stay close, but dodge its attacks and then slice from the sides. The health of Delver is comprised of three bars. You have to deplete the first two bars, which will then reveal the red health bar. In this state, Delver brings out his final stage where he transforms into a larger and meaner self with a more intimidating approach. However, Delver turns slower with its attacks in this phase, and if you can keep moving then you can easily deplete its health bar in no time.
Boss #6 – Major General Ezra Shields
The Major General comes in a large robot where you encounter him in this boss fight. He has a large turret gun on his right hand that he uses to attack you but it slow in turning around or when you are close by. Occasionally, he will release a series of fireballs that will explode and burn a fire in the area. This is to get some distance between you so that he can work with his machine gun and fire towards you.
The best course of action here is to continue attacking from a close distance. This will ensure that you can effectively continue with your slashing attacks. If he does, however, manage to push you away, you can use the barriers as a shield from his turret gun. The General will also destroy the barriers so it is best to take down both the health bars quickly. Run around behind him and then slash at his legs.
You also have to be careful with his flame thrower where he sends out a beam of fire towards your location. This can only be avoided by dodging away and trying to get close by to deal with damage. If you stay too long while slashing at the legs, the General will kick you and knock you far back.
Boss #7 – Matriarch Celeste
This is one of the toughest bosses that you will fight in the game, and it requires you to prepare yourself well before you attempt to beat this boss. Make sure you have a good set of weapons that deal a lot of damage and have enough armor to manage her attacks.
The main thing you need to be aware of is the sweeping dive attack that she does with her weapon. You can only dodge this attack, and if you get caught, your health will drain very fast in a couple of hits. When you deplete enough of her health, her second phase will begin where she will transform by producing elongated arms from her back.
Be careful here as her attacks will have range but can also be brought up close as she will pounce at your whenever she sees an opportunity. What you can do here is to get close to her and then dodge her attacks from her arms. This way you can continue bashing her from the sides. When you hit Celeste, she will stagger for a moment. Do not get greedy at this point as she will counter this attack by first pushing you and then stabbing you with her weapon.
Boss #8 – H.A.R.O.L.D.
This is another tough boss fight where an intimidating robot with large legs comes forth to take you down. It is hard to guess what attacks this boss will produce and what counter you need to think of. Some of its attacks include sending out two holographic enemies of himself that come dashing towards you to attack. All you have to do then is to dodge them and then avoid the boss’s leap that follows immediately.
As the fight progresses, more and more holographic enemies will be spawned. You know the drill here and all you have to do is continue with your own attacks to deplete HAROLD’s health.
Boss #9 – Archangel Eli
This is the final boss that you will encounter in the game. This is a tough boss fight being the last large enemy that you have to beat. There is no real way you can avoid his attacks as he works best from both far away, and up close and personal.
Archangel Eli loves to fly around but occasionally steps down to attack with his melee weapon. Your target here is to hit his wings so that he can be less dominating in this fight. Make sure you can dodge all of his attacks and then counter with your own slashes. Eventually, you will deplete this boss’ health and emerge as the victor.
