Sega Showcases Customization in Team Sonic Racing

Team Sonic Racing Customization

Sega recently held a panel at SXSW where it revealed a new video from their upcoming Team Sonic Racing focusing on in-game customization. The short video showcased different customization options that are present in the upcoming kart racing title and how players will be able to use them in order to modify their karts in the game.

Apart from different kart shapes in the game, players will be further able to modify them all and create their own unique and personalized karts to stand out from the crowd. Players will have access to different wheels, paint options, liveries, horns, tires and hoods to put on their kart.

To purchase different modification parts, players will need in-game currency. They will also win some special car parts as random prizes from winning races. Each time a player completes a race, they will earn currency whether they win or lose. Players can later use this currency to purchase special car parts and then change their anytime they want in the game.

Check out the customization trailer below.

Since each character in the game comes with a unique vehicle, you can win unique parts for their vehicles and equip them as well. You can also get some gold parts which are the best parts available for each car but also the rarest of all. You can change parts of each car present in the game.

The visual mods are only for visual appeal however the performance mods will affect the performance of the kart as well. As you switch to different parts, you can check out the difference the new part will make in the stats section. Each kart has five attributes which affect its performance.

They include Acceleration, Boost, Defense, Handling and Top Speed. You can choose the part which suits your playstyle and build your kart according to your liking. You can opt for a much lighter kart with less defense or a much heavier but slower kart depending on your preference. Visual mods do not affect performance in any way.

Team Sonic Racer is arriving on May 21, 2019 on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.
