This Subnautica 2 Upgraded Tools Guide shows how to get the Sonic Resonator, a mining tool for large ore deposits, in the game. Mining large ore deposits in Subnautica 2 is very difficult. For this purpose, you will need to unlock a special mining tool called the Sonic Resonator. Without it, the bigger resource nodes cannot be broken apart, which means you will miss out on collecting large amounts of materials. Getting this tool early is very useful because it makes resource farming much faster.
Upgraded Tools Guide – Subnautica 2
To start working toward the Sonic Resonator, continue following the main story missions until you reach the old habitat area known as Welcome Home. This is the location where the former crew used to live. The mission connected to this area appears around the second or third black box objective during the story progression.

Once you arrive, look for an entrance leading inside the habitat. There may be multiple ways in, but one path is easier to follow and leads directly into the building. After entering, activate the nearby panel to open the door and continue exploring the area.
Before searching too deeply, make sure you know where the oxygen spots are located so you do not get stuck underwater for too long. One of the easiest air refill points can be reached by climbing a ladder inside the habitat. Head up, refill your oxygen, and then return down to continue searching.

You will need a scanner for this entire process because the Sonic Resonator must be unlocked by scanning fragments. Inside the habitat, you can find one of the tool fragments needed for the blueprint near a flipped table, close to the red ladder, which you used for getting oxygen. The next part is sitting on a shelf in the next room. Some parts may also appear in caves or other nearby locations, so it is worth exploring around if you are still missing pieces.

The most important item to scan in this area is the Processor machine. This device allows you to turn smaller titanium pieces and scrap materials into metal ingots. These crafted materials are required for building more advanced equipment, including the Sonic Resonator itself.

After scanning everything you need, return to your base and start crafting the required materials. Once the Sonic Resonator is built, you can finally start breaking apart the large ore nodes scattered around the world. It is a very important upgrade because it helps you collect resources much more efficiently.
