Earning achievements or trophies are one of the best ways to boast in front of your friends and until now, Steam achievements were the most boring ones because of the UI and the design of the page. They were always more significant on PlayStation and Xbox because of the innovative design which made them more visible to people on the networks and even the players themselves.
In direct comparison, Steam achievements have always been laid back and in the background and I don’t remember any of my friends saying that I finally managed to earn that achievement on Steam. It’s always the Platinums on PlayStation that really give you that ‘elite’ status over your friends. However, it seems that it is all about to change because the new Steam Library Design is completely revamping the achievements screen as well on the client.
Thanks to Steam users who have been digging down in the Steam Library Overhaul Beta files, we now have some brand new screens which showcase the new UI for the achievements and how they will be more significant in the future. Achievement/trophy fanatics will now have a purpose on Steam as well because, in the new UI, the rare achievements will have a golden glow around them making them stand out from the rest of the crowd.
In addition, the new UI will also reward players with a blue ribbon if they unlock all achievements for a game on Steam. This will certainly add more value to the achievements in Steam because as of now, it is one of the most neglected aspects of the digital store which has been around for decades. Since the overhaul is still in beta, we can expect more features to arrive as well such as a sound identifying an unlocked achievement.
The new library beta is already live on Steam however just like all other betas, you can expect some problems and glitches in it so you must download it at your own risk. On the good side, you can get to experience the new Steam Library UI as it changes and adapts to its final shape in the coming days.
You can check out the subreddit as well where we got the information and the pictures from.
