US firm working on everyday secure communications, HIROH, has announced that pre-orders for its first security-optimized HIROH phone are now live in the USA. The new HIROH phone is all about making your everyday conversations and communication secure and marks a significant improvement in usable security by combining premium design and industry-leading security. The pre-order announcement comes after it was announced that senators’ phones were compromised.
While communication is vital in today’s work and private life, it is also a gateway for privacy concerns in various ways. HIROH aims to make this a priority with its latest HIRON Phone, which features advanced security measures in place that make stealing your private data difficult, even if there is on-board malware installed on the phone. The HIROH Phone is designed for high-level individuals like government leaders, executives, journalists, parents, and privacy-conscious professionals. Spec-wise, the HIROH Phone matches the industry leaders like iPhone 16 and Samsung Galaxy S25, and takes it further by giving true physical privacy control in one device.
At the heart of the HIROH Phone is a dual hardware kill switch system where one switch instantly disables the microphone and camera electronically, while the second cuts GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. This makes remote surveillance or data collection physically impossible. The phone features an aluminum frame with a 6.77” 1.5K 120Hz refresh rate 1220×2712 AMOLED screen. The device is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 8300 octa-core chip, 16 GB of RAM, standard 512GB of storage, partnered with a 2TB encrypted SD slot. You also get a Samsung 108MP rear main camera, a 13MP Sony wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 32MP Sony front-facing camera.
On the side of the phone, you find a kill switch that puts the phone into a secure mode and turns off all sorts of tracking mechanisms inside the phone, like the camera and microphone. This marks a new direction for secure phones because it does not ‘brick’ the phone, making it unusable. Victor Coccina, chief executive officer of HIROH, commented:
At HIROH, we believe privacy should never come at the cost of usability. The HIROH phone redefines what secure communication means — merging true physical security with the freedom to use the apps and tools people rely on every day. It’s not just about protecting your data; it’s about empowering users to live and work securely without compromise. With HIROH, you’ll never need to carry a second phone.
You can choose between two OS options with the HIROH phone. On one hand, you get Murena’s e/OS for complete de-Googled privacy, and on the other hand, you can get Android 16 for maximum compatibility. It comes unlocked from the factory, so you can use any network you like worldwide. Even if you choose the e/OS, you still get full access to the Android and Google app library, which makes it a balance between both worlds. Detailed specifications of the HIROH phone include:
