Indie developer Glyph Worlds has announced to launch its new RTS game called Barkhan, a love letter to the iconic RTS gems of the 90s. In addition to the announcement, a free demo of the game is available on Steam as part of the Steam Next Fest.

A harsh sand planet has become the stage for a brutal war between three Great Clans. For the power over rare minerals each wants to prove their superiority. In the heat of dynamic battles with the enemy’s troops, be prepared to face and attack giant Sand Snakes.
Inspired by the classics, Barkhan pays major homage to legendary games like Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty and Dune 2000, which are both genre-defining games that set the standard for RTS games over the years to follow. What Barkhan plans to do is to deliver an experience to players that takes them back to this golden era of RTS, but with a modern twist.
You will get to explore a world rendered in beautiful 3D, where you will have to build and expand your base, train and prepare your units, and clash on the battlefield to conquer your enemies. Just be wary of the sand, where a few surprises lay hidden from you.
Each faction will have its own strengths and weaknesses, which is where you will have to choose wisely. Just like in a true classic RTS game, you will have to adjust your playstyle depending upon your choices and strategize accordingly.
