According to a rumor, Sony will be hosting a new PS5 event next month which will be its State of Play game showcase event. This comes after the successful reveal of its upcoming next-gen console, the PlayStation 5.

Although we god a good look at some of the games that were announced at the console reveal event, including Horizon Forbidden West, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Godfall, Deathloop, and more, it would be fantastic to see more trailers and new announcements for the console.

The rumor came from a well-known gaming industry insider Robert Serrano on Twitter, who revealed the next Sony PS5 event to be set on August 6. Roberto also previously revealed the June announcement date of the console reveal event. He also doesn’t provide any other information regarding the details of the event, and what to expect from it. All that is said is to pin the date and set your reminders for the event.

Having said that, we advise you to take this rumor with a grain of salt. Sony was expected to hold another event after the console reveal, as we are still left with a few unanswered questions. Sony has still not confirmed the price of the console, which is one of the highly anticipated details everyone is waiting for after looking at the PlayStation 5. The rumored State of Play event is inevitably going to happen in the coming months, which might also contain the unit price of the next-gen console.

All we can do is wait for any confirmation by Sony, or if there will be any event being held next month at all. On the other hand, Xbox is set for its Xbox Showcase live stream today at 9 am PT, which will feature the upcoming games for both Xbox Series X and PC. The event is sure to feature Halo Infinite campaign gameplay as well, which will be the most exciting thing for the fans.
