Starter Pokemon

When you first begin your adventure in Pokémon Legends Arceus, you will have to choose between three Pokémon that are Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott. Instead of choosing what you like from these Pokémon, you should consider which stands the best chance of granting you victories against Noble Pokémon, the bosses you will be fighting rather than the gym leaders.

Out of the three starter Pokémon, Oshawott is a water and dark type Pokémon as it is stronger than two bosses instead of all three. This makes battles way easier and an easy pick for you to get wins. And while Cyndaquil is stronger than one of the three bosses, Rowlet has no advantage over the three bosses, giving you a challenging battle, if you are into that.

Where to Find Other Starter Pokémon

Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil are not the only Pokémon you can catch, as the game offers Pokémon from other generations.

Piplup

Piplup can be found in the west from Islepy Shore in the Spring Path region in Cobalt Coastlands.

Pikachu

Pikachu can be found in two locations, which are the Golden Lowlands in Crimson Mirelands, and Nature’s Pantry in Obsidian Fieldlands.

Chimchar

Chimchar can be found specifically on Ramanas Island after you make your way to the Obsidian Fieldlands.

Darkrai

Darkrai can only be caught if you have the Pokémon Shining Pearl or Brilliant Diamond saved date on your Switch. If you do, head to Laventon’s board in the endgame to start a quest called The Darksome Nightmare. The quest is where you need to go to the Clamberclaw Cliffs during the night to spot a Darkrai
