Phoenix Point Delayed to December 2019 To Avoid Crunch

Phoenix Point

Crunch culture is something that has plagued the gaming industry in recent years but Snapshot Games is not doing the same. The developer has realized that it has a lot of work to do on Phoenix Point and that is why it has delayed the game to December 2019. It was supposed to release in September.

Phoenix Point has been delayed before but the Backer Build 5 will be available on September. Often, we criticize developers for not planning right and not releasing the game on time but we do not consider what the developers are going through behind the scenes.

I would be more than happy to wait a couple of weeks rather than have people work 60 hours a week to meet a deadline that is not achievable. I think that Snapshot Games should take the time it needs and release Phoenix Point when they are happy with the quality of the game. The announcement that Phoenix Point is being delayed to December went as follows:

As you probably know, Snapshot has a commitment to keep crunch to a minimum – and that is a commitment we take very seriously. Therefore, because we know we have more work than we have time, we will be delaying the release of game from September 3, 2019 to December, 2019.

No specific date has been provided but I am sure that we will be able to learn more around November. I am sure that fans are a bit upset but it is better to wait rather than get a game that does not work well.

Phoenix Point

Snapshot realizes that this is not the first time that the game has been delayed. The post went on to mention the following:

We know this is not our first delay, and we are very sorry to the fans who we know are highly anticipating getting their hands on Phoenix Point. No one is more disappointed than we are, but we collectively agree that we would rather miss a launch date than ship something that does not meet our exacting standards.

Let us know what you think about Phoenix Point being delayed again and whether or not you are interested in playing the game when it finally comes out.
