Saber Interactive’s publishing label, 3D Realms, and developer Anshar Studio have released the latest trailer for Painkiller, showcasing the co-op gameplay for the first time. Painkiller will feature fast-paced demonic co-op as shown in the new trailer, which is narrated by one of the demons waiting for you in Purgatory. Playing with friends will have benefits in the game, not limited to hours of demon-slaying fun. Check out the new Painkiller trailer to see Co-Op in action:
Painkiller will allow you to jump into the game with up to two other friends and take on the demonic threat in co-op. As you battle across gruesome gothic locations, you and your friends can combine your firepower to take down Azazel, the fallen angel. The co-op mode offers the same level of chaos and brutality as you can expect in the solo mode, only amped up based on the number of players currently present in the game.
Each player can pick up a unique character and use their unique abilities to help the others during a battle. Unique perks will all mix and match to provide buffs and bonuses to all players in a party. Depending on the party’s skill and the selected difficulty, the game will either become easy or a nightmare to complete. The co-op will allow all players to progress in the game equally, and their progression will continue even if they switch to solo afterwards.
Painkiller is slated for release on October 21, 2025, across PC via Steam and consoles, including PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are now live for all platforms, and you can pre-order both the digital and physical editions (consoles).
