BAFTA-nominated developer Polygon Treehouse and publisher Whitethorn Games have released the latest trailer for their upcoming title Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island. The new trailer showcases a unique gameplay mechanic that sees you unwinding in tranquil “chill-out spots” scattered across a mysterious Mediterranean island. These serene locations offer you a spot to pause your quest to help the island’s amnesiac Greek gods and simply enjoy some peaceful moments amidst stunning surroundings.
In Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island, you play as Alex, a backpacker who finds herself stranded on a sun-drenched island inhabited by gods who have lost their memories. As Alex, you’ll explore beautiful beaches, ancient ruins, and lush environments, uncovering hidden treasures and collecting cassette tapes along the way. These tapes, which feature the game’s relaxing island soundtrack, can be played in one of the chill-out spots found throughout the island. Equipped with a cassette player and a comfortable seat, these spots offer a perfect retreat to enjoy your favorite tunes while taking in the picturesque landscapes around you.

The game is more than just a tranquil getaway, though. To find her way off the island, Alex must befriend the gods and help them remember who they are. As you build relationships with these mythical beings, you can trade for rare cassette tapes to expand your music collection. Each tape is a unique treasure, adding a personal touch to the game’s soundtrack as you unlock new songs that enhance the atmosphere of the island. The closer your bond with the gods, the more willing they are to assist Alex in her quest to leave the island and return home.
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island combines elements of non-linear adventure games like A Short Hike with the investigative storytelling of the Ace Attorney series. You must explore the dynamic island, solve puzzles, and engage in meaningful conversations with the gods to unlock new storylines and abilities. The Ambrosidex, a special device that tracks the gods and their lost treasures, will be a vital tool in Alex’s quest to restore the gods’ memories and unravel the mysteries of the island.
Key features of the game include tracking down various gods like Ares, Athena, Hermes, and Hades, using the Ambrosidex to hunt for hidden treasures, and engaging in conversations that can alter the course of the story. The game’s emphasis on friendship, family, and community adds an emotional depth to the adventure as Alex builds relationships with the gods who gradually reveal their pasts and the secrets of Ambrosia Island.
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is set to launch on PC via Steam and Xbox One and Series S|X later this year. If you want to try out a small slice of the game, you can download and try a free demo right now on Steam as well. Additional details such as a confirmed release date will be announced soon.
