Synergy Guide – Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

Our Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Synergy Guide details everything that you need to know about synergy in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

How to Land Synergy Attacks?

The game will teach you in the early stages about you can land the synergy attacks however if you still do not know how to use this vital mechanic, all you need to do is press ZR and then press any of the attack buttons. The Synergy attacks are not limited to one attack only. You can land them with any of your superhero attacks however their effects will vary depending on how well they go with your teammates.

You should know that Synergy attacks can be performed with any superheroes and any attacks however their efficiency will vary. For getting the most out of these synergy attacks, you must ensure that you are using the best compatible superheroes for your synergy attack. For this purpose, you must understand which synergy trait is compatible with which synergy trait. You can check which synergy trait a superhero has in the ability menu.

Synergy Types and Compatibilities

There are 15 unique types of synergies found in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Naturally, not all of them go well with each other. Some of them combine together really well and some of them just do not really go well with each other. To find out which Synergy Trait a superhero has, you can open the Team menu and choosing the superhero. Let’s start with checking out the basic synergy traits that are present in the game.

  • Area Assault
  • Barrage
  • Bash
  • Beam
  • Burn
  • Burst
  • Charge
  • Explosive
  • Freeze
  • Launch
  • Rapid-Fire
  • Safeguard
  • Shock
  • Slam
  • Whirlwind

It is worth mentioning here that each ability a superhero has, it comes with its own Synergy Trait. The Synergy traits are not exclusive to the hero but to the ability. At the start, your hero will only have 1 ability unlocked. As you play more with that certain hero, you will level them up and then more abilities will be unlocked for you to use with them.

This will allow you to have multiple synergy setups with a single hero so it is always best that you mostly stick with heroes that you like the most and unlock all of their abilities first to make them as effective in battle as possible. The next thing you should know about is combining these synergies together and landing powerful attacks that deal devastating damage to the enemies.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Synergy Guide

Just like all superpower moves, you must save your Synergy Attacks for when you need them most. They consume energy and the partner you choose to land the Synergy attack with, must have a skill as well that compliments your Synergy trait for the attack. Below you will find all the Synergy Attacks that can be performed when you combine specific Synergy Traits together.

These are all the Synergy Attacks that you can perform by combining the required Synergy Traits together. You will need to practice a bit with different heroes and using all heroes once will give you a good idea which ones work the best with your playstyle and other superheroes in your team. Make sure that you always try out the newly unlocked heroes because they will offer you more options to explore.

Building Your Teams Based on Synergy

While building your team, although you will always go with your favorite heroes, sometimes you will need to go with heroes that offer you more in terms of combat rather than just sentimental value. For me, I choose heroes depending on the mood I am in. If I want to have a serious game, I go for a well-balanced team that offers a good balance of synergy. If I want to have fun, I simply go for heroes that I just like to play and mess around with regardless of whether they match together or not.

Depending on your playstyle, you can go for the heavy hitters or strategic fighters or combine both of them to create a team that performs really well in overall scenarios. You must note that while building the team, you must make 2 pairs of superheroes. Which means that 2 superheroes must have perfect synergy with each other so that you have 2 unique Synergy Attacks at all times.

Even better, sometimes you will end with all four superheroes that go really well with each other and you will have four unique synergy attacks to demolish your enemies with however keep an eye on the energy levels and do not waste these attacks. Keep them safe for when you really need them and always use them when your heroes are about to die.
