The Scarlet Keep Strike is an important activity on the Moon, especially if you are working toward an Exotic Cull’s Shadow quest that requires progress inside this strike. If the strike is missing from your map, don’t worry. You simply need to advance through part of the Shadowkeep storyline first.
The Scarlet Keep Strike – Destiny 2 – Monument of Triumph
Normally, the Scarlet Keep Strike can be found by opening the Director, selecting Destinations, and then choosing the Moon. The strike appears as an activity on the Moon map. If it is not available to you yet, it means you still need to complete several Shadowkeep campaign objectives before it becomes accessible.
Begin the Shadowkeep Legacy Questline
To gain access to the strike, start working through the Legacy: Shadowkeep questline. The first step is completing the mission called A Mysterious Disturbance on the Moon.
After finishing that mission, another Shadowkeep-related objective becomes available. You will need to visit the Moon and speak with Eris Morn, who will provide the next stage of the quest.
Investigate the Hive Activity
Once you have spoken with Eris Morn, she will ask you to investigate unusual Hive activity near the Scarlet Keep. A new mission marker will appear on the Moon.
This objective is fairly straightforward. During the mission, defeat enemies and collect the required Runed Tablets as you progress through the area. Continue following the mission instructions until it is completed. After finishing, return to the Sanctuary landing zone and speak with Eris Morn once again.
Complete the Essence of Despair Quest
Your next task is the Essence of Despair quest. This step mainly requires participating in activities around the Moon.
You can make progress by completing public events, running patrols, or clearing Lost Sectors. Public events are one of the better options because they provide a good amount of progress each time you complete one.
Patrols can be found throughout the Moon. If you are having trouble locating them, pull out your Ghost and look for the star-shaped activity markers nearby. These usually lead you directly to available patrol missions.
Lost Sectors are another reliable source of progress. Locations such as K1 Communion, K1 Logistics, K1 Crew Quarters, and K1 Revelation all count toward this objective and can help you finish the requirement more quickly.
Continue the Story Missions
After earning enough progress for the Essence of Despair quest, head back to Eris Morn. She will reward you and direct you toward another mission near the Anchor of Light area.
Complete this mission and follow any remaining quest instructions. Once everything is finished, return to Eris Morn again for another conversation.
Unlocking Scarlet Keep
Following your final discussion with Eris Morn, the Scarlet Keep Strike will become available on the Moon. After unlocking Scarlet Keep, make sure you complete the strike at least one time normally before attempting any special Exotic quest objectives inside it.
Trying to perform certain Exotic quest requirements during your very first completion may not count properly. To avoid wasting time, finish the strike once, then launch it again for any quest-specific tasks you need to complete.
