How to Get Ice Guardian’s Sleetblade in World of Warcraft Midnight

This World of Warcraft Guide details how you can get the Ice Guardian’s Sleetblade in the Midnight update easily. The Ice Guardian’s Sleet Sword is one of the hidden weapon rewards introduced in the latest update. Unlike regular loot, you won’t find it by defeating a single enemy or opening a chest.

Begin by entering the Val region and make sure your game is set to Heroic World Tier, as the event can only be completed on this difficulty.

Once inside Val, head toward the Sleet Rune Hollow, located in the bottom-right area of the map. Enter the cave and continue all the way to its deepest section until you discover a sword frozen inside a block of ice.

Interact with the sword to begin the hidden challenge. Although you cannot remove it immediately, you will receive a temporary buff called Testament, which asks you to prove your strength by defeating worthy enemies.

Wait for the Right Time

Before activating the challenge, it is best to check whether a rare enemy is about to appear.

The reason is simple: after taking the buff, you have limited time to complete the objective. Starting the challenge just before a rare spawn gives you enough time to reach the enemy while it is still available. Each rare remains protected for around three minutes after spawning, so you can safely travel to its location before the fight begins.

Defeat Powerful Enemies

To complete the requirement, you must earn two Vanquishing stacks before the Testament buff expires.

You can do this by:

  • Defeating two rare enemies, or
  • Defeating one rare enemy and one world boss.

After defeating your first target, you will receive the Vanquishing buff, which lasts for 30 minutes. Before this timer runs out, you must earn a second stack by defeating another qualifying enemy.

If another rare will not appear in time, heading to the world boss is usually the faster option.

Join the World Boss Fight

The world boss can be reached through the portal in the lower-right part of the region.

When you arrive, open the Group Finder, browse the Custom Pre-made Groups, and search for a group fighting the world boss. Join any available group and defeat the boss before your Testament buff expires.

It does not matter if you have already defeated the boss earlier, as long as you complete this step while the challenge is still active.

After the boss falls, your Vanquishing buff will gain its second stack, and the Testament description will change to confirm that you have proven yourself worthy. It will also instruct you to return and claim your reward.

Return to the Frozen Sword

As soon as the objective is complete, quickly travel back to Sleet Rune Hollow before the remaining timer expires. Avoid unnecessary fights on the way back, as stopping to deal with enemies can waste valuable time.

Once you reach the cave again, interact with the sword a second time. This time, instead of failing, your character will successfully pull it from the ice, and you will receive the Ice Guardian’s Sleet Sword.

After claiming the weapon, you can equip it immediately. The Ice Guardian’s Sleet Sword features an icy appearance that makes it stand out from other weapons, both while wielded and when sheathed on your character.
