The Skull Ant is found in the area linking The Marrow with the Hunter’s March. If you have not found him, head to the location marked on the map below to find him:
There is a bench directly below this boss’s arena, so we recommend that you head there and save the game because it will make it easier to tackle this fight again if you do not succeed in your first attempt. After saving, head back up and tackle the boss. As soon as you engage the boss fight, the boss will stand up and roar, giving you time to quickly nab around 3 or 4 shots on him. After this, instantly start running back to the much tighter arena from where you came from.
The boss has two main attacks. One is where he jumps, dashes, or emerges from the ground and takes two large swipes at you. This attack has a long range, so quickly dash in the opposite direction when the boss is ready to attack. You can tell he is attacking when he stands firm and lifts his weapon. His other attack is a more annoying attack where he jumps in the air, lands on you, and takes a massive swipe. This jump attack has an even longer range, making it harder to avoid. If you are fighting inside the smaller section of the arena, he will no longer jump and attack, making it a much easier fight.
Your strategy will remain the same throughout the boss fight. You dash in, get 1 or 2 hits, and dash out. Look for small windows, like when he pops out of the ground, or when he has completed his dual-swipe attack. These small windows are all that you will get during this fight, so use them and keep chipping away at his health. After some time, you will defeat the Skull Ant and gain access to the Hunter’s March from The Marrow.
