Santino’s Chest Guide – Gothic 1 Remake
The chest is located in a small wooden shack within the Old Mine. To reach it, continue through the mine until you arrive at the bridge leading toward Santino’s section of the area. A guard standing near this bridge makes it easy to identify the correct location.
Once you spot the bridge, look to the right side. There is a nearby shack with its door already open. Walk inside and look along the left wall to find the chest. Interacting with it will bring up a puzzle involving several movable plates.
Solving the Plate Puzzle
Opening the chest requires entering the correct sequence using five numbered plates. There is no shortcut or alternate way to bypass the mechanism, so the combination must be entered correctly.
Start by moving the “second plate to the left six times”. Next, move the “third plate to the right six times”. After that, shift the “fourth plate to the right three times”. For the fourth step, return to the “second plate and move it left three more times”. Finally, move the “fifth plate to the right three times”. As soon as the last movement is entered, the chest will unlock automatically and reveal its contents.
The same sequence works regardless of whether you are playing on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S.
Reward Inside the Chest
Successfully opening the chest grants “33 Ore Nuggets”. While this amount may not seem impressive later in the game, it can be quite useful during the early hours of your adventure.
These extra nuggets can help you afford better equipment sooner or reduce the amount of time spent gathering resources. Since the chest can only be looted once, it is worth collecting as soon as you gain access to the Old Mine.
