Molegato and Top Hat Studios have announced the release date of their upcoming platforming game Frogun. Frogun will release on August 2, 2022, on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. It will also release on consoles including Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5. Frogun brings back nostalgia with its 3D platforming where you take on the role of Renata, a little girl with an unusual sidekick, a frog that’s a gun called Frogun who happens to be her best friend as well.
The story of Frogun follows Renata who has been left at a base camp by her explorer parents who are going on an expedition to the Beelzebub Ruins. As they mysteriously disappear during their expedition, Renata must try to find her parents on her own as she steps out on a rescue mission alongside her latest invention the Frogun. The Frogun is an intelligent frog-shaped grappling tool that comes in handy in various scenarios. The game is rich in depth as you can collect various collectibles, and complete challenges while looking for your parents.
Frogun also features retro pixelated visuals that are crisp and vibrant, and you will notice this as you travel through mystical jungle ruins, dark depths, freezing snow caps, and scorching lava swamps. As you explore these locations, you will also hunt for treasure, dodge various perilous hazards and fight enemies, and challenging bosses who stand in your way. The world of Frogun features dozens of levels that are themed around various in-game worlds and you will also encounter other mysterious adventurers on your journey. Different notes left by pirates, raiders, and previous explorers of the ruins will help you find lost treasures and collectibles. You can also trade in Frogun’s coins for unlockable cosmetics and behind-the-scenes peeks. If you manage to complete the game to 100%, you will unlock an expert time trials mode where you can try and beat the pro level times for each level and turns the game into a speedrunner.
