Review: Stronghold: Warlords

Firefly Studios has released a new gameplay trailer for Stronghold: Warlords and it reveals four brand-new units from the upcoming castle sim RTS. The new units revealed include the Ninja, Warrior Monk, and the mounted cavalry for Imperial and Auxiliary. Each of the new units comes with its own special abilities, counters, and tactics.

The new trailer officially debuts these units as they join the 16 units and 10 siege units already revealed for the game earlier. Players will be able to use the Ninja, Warrior Monk, Imperial Cavalry, and Auxiliary Cavalry in skirmish mode and multiplayer. With the addition of these new units in the game, players will now have an even more diverse unit roster that will surely appeal to both new players of the franchise as well as the old veterans.

Check out the new gameplay footage below before we jump into details about each of the new unit:

With this new reveal, the final four units coming to Stronghold: Warlords are now out in the open and we now have a complete roster of units and Siege vehicles coming to the game. Starting with the Ninjas, ninjas prefer staying in the shadows and are all about espionage. They can deal damage over a decent range with their shuriken attacks along with the classic invisibility and wall scaling abilities.

Warrior Monks are well-rounded soldiers that can be used in various battle scenarios. They are lightly armored and can move really fast however they also deal a large amount of damage quickly and are best for ambushes and surprise attacks. Their spin attack is excellent for crowd control and can knock out enemies apart from dealing damage. Deploy them in critical conditions and you will watch how they change the tide of the battle.

The Imperial Cavalry might need armor, swords, and horses for you to recruit them, but these are slow, powerful units that stand proud in your army. They might be slow, but their special attack can quickly deal a lot of damage to enemies and knock them back if you time it perfectly. They are excellent at breaking enemy lines and chasing after retreating enemies as well with their charge ability.

The Auxiliary Cavalry on the other hand are lightly armored but they come with a shield and lance. They can quickly change course and can help you clear out the enemy defenses and pave a path for the armies behind them. They are also excellent at reacting to the ever-changing dynamics of the battlefield and thus are an integral part of your army. They offer solid mounted attack opportunities at castles and other fixed defenses.
