Dr Disrespect got a temporary ban from Twitch because of his first IRL stream in which he was streaming in a public bathroom. Doing so is illegal in the state of California and hence the streamer was banned from the platform.
The ban from Twitch is temporary and Dr Disrespect will be coming back. Dr Disrespect has not said anything about the ban until now. He took to Twitter to talk about the incident. He mentioned that he was interested in taking the viewers on an adventure and in doing so he did not think about the laws or the consequences of his actions.
He mentioned that he had to ill intentions, which is clear if you watch the whole video. Here is what he had to say about the incident:
Real life personas are so difficult to pull off, especially in today’s society. Doc is edgy, highly opinionated, cocky, etc. and that certainly adds to the difficulty in staying authentic without offending anyone on a deeper, personal level. When we were walking around filming at E3, we clearly weren’t thinking about the laws/repercussions of filming in the bathroom because honestly, it wasn’t in our mind frame at the time.
Dr Disrespect apologized for what happened. He mentioned that he would learn from his mistakes and come back stronger. He asked the fans to keep supporting him on his journey.
Some argue that the ban was a light punishment and that Dr Disrespect should have been dealt with in a much harsher way. We are not here to comment on that. I will say that Dr Disrespect is a person. He plays a character but under the mask he is human. Humans can make mistakes.
The gaming community loves Dr Disrespect and I think that people should have it in their hearts to give him another chance. Dr Disrespect is recovering from the Twitch ban but he should be back shortly.
