Death Stranding Cargo Guide

This Death Stranding Cargo Guide will show you how you can carry more Cargo, how you can repair Cargo if it gets damaged, and what are the best ways to transport cargo effectively.

Carrying cargo is one of the main tasks at hand for the protagonist of the game, Sam. Cargo load has its limitations on Sam, and the heavier the load the more difficult it becomes for Sam to carry it. You also have to be careful in carrying the Cargo as Sam can trip over and damage the cargo crates or the items inside. We will also take a look at how you can repair the cargo crates if they get damaged.

Below we have detailed how you can increase cargo load capacity and how you can repair cargo crates if they get damaged.

Cargo Load Limitations

Cargo load capacity can be increased as you progress in the game. If you are just starting with the game, Sam can only carry a maximum of 120 kg of cargo weight. However, the more Sam reaches the maximum limit, the more it gets difficult for him to traverse with it. If you load up more cargo that nears the 120 kg limit, Sam will not only be slow but will also be at the risk of losing balance causing to tip over and fall. This can compromise the cargo and can damage items inside, or break the cargo crates.

The game gives you a weight limit gauge that indicates how much weight you are carrying, and how close you are to the limit. If the gauge turns red, it is an indication that you are carrying more than the 120kg limit. Though you can still carry it, Sam will be very slow or might not move at all.

How to Carry More Cargo

There are three ways to increase the load capacity of cargo. The first is to upgrade Sam’s abilities to carry more Cargo. Every cargo delivery that you complete will show you a Porter Grade, which then shows you the Delivery Volume parameter. If you increase the parameter to 10 levels, you will get an additional carry weight of around 5kg.

The second way, which is much significant than the first, is to get Exoskeletons. These greatly increase the load capacity of cargo that you can carry. The game offers different Exoskeletons that you can get, which then allows you to carry more than 100kg in one go.

Exoskeletons run on power from batteries and work effectively if they have enough power remaining in them. They can be damaged as well if they are hit by enemies or if you stumble and fall. But they can also be repaired and used again. There are Exoskeletons that offer you more load capacity, while others give you more speed when walking but less load capacity.

Another way to increase load capacity is to use Floating Carriers or vehicles where you can store cargo on. These can give you much more space to carry additional cargo. For vehicles, you can carry cargo on a motorcycle or a 4 wheeled vehicle that will give you more space. The Floating Carriers are like trolleys without wheels where you can stack up the Cargo and then walk around by dragging a rope tied to them.

How to Repair Cargo

Carrying cargo can be a tough task for Sam, especially when there is a lot of cargo load to carry. You will at times fall and damage the cargo crates, or you might encounter enemies that will damage the cargo. The damage is not only suffered by the cargo crates but the items they contain as well. You can check out the damage bar of both the containers and the cargo itself.

You cannot repair the items inside the container if they get damaged. The damage to these items is irreversible and you can only be careful to not worsen their condition. On the other hand, cargo containers can be repaired if they are damaged. However, you learn this ability after you complete the number 8 order which is to collect the Chiral crystals. This mission gives you a spray to repair the containers. You can then craft the repair sprays and find them in the open world.

To repair your cargo container, place the damaged container on the ground and then use the Repair Spray to repair the container. As you spray, you will notice the durability of the container starting to increase.
