Code Vein Boss Battles Guide
Below we have detailed how to defeat all of the main bosses in Code Vein.
Boss #1 – Oliver Collins
This is the first boss that you come across. Oliver is a red-eyed zombie looking boss that is very aggressive from the start of the fight. In the fight, Oliver will charge towards you and will follow up with an attack with his hammer weapon. Fortunately, Oliver is quite slow in both charging and swinging and takes a brief second to begin the swing with his weapon.
This gives you ample time to dodge, and then attack from the sides, or behind him to counter. Occasionally, Oliver will jump in the air and smash his hammer at you. This is a quicker attack than his charge, but can still be dodged.
The second phase of the fight begins when Oliver loses half of his health. This where he transforms into a large version of some sort of monster. His attacks are more frequent and have more range than before. Be careful as he will continuously swing his weapon when you are close to him. Keep dodging and swinging from the back or behind him.
Boss #2 – Invading Executioner
This boss comes holding a large weapon with a blade that offers a lot of range. Her swings can be devastating if you get too close and can be hard to dodge at times. However, she frequently slows down after a series of attacks leaving her vulnerable for attacks. You can take advantage of it and deplete as much health of hers as you can.
This boss also can also slow you down with her status affect attacks. Once you are slowed down, the fight can become quite tough. In the first phase of the fight, you need to stay close, dodge and attack as much as you can. The second phase becomes even tougher as she becomes quicker, and starts shooting projectiles at you. All you can do here is to dodge and the wait for her charge attacks. Dodge at the right moment and then attack from the side. It is best to never offer her distance and always keep close to her during your attacks.
Boss #3 – Butterfly of Delirium
This is one of the toughest bosses you will fight and is a large butterfly part snake that likes to attack you with its poisonous venom attacks. As you can guess, you need to prepare yourself with a lot of anti-venom consumables that can decrease the rate of your health depletion. The first phase of attacks is based on the boss’ tail swing and its close range poison that the boss throws out occasionally.
When the boss’s health drops a quarter of the way, the second phase of the fight begins. This brings out a new set of attacks that the boss uses against you. One of the attacks is when she produces a venomous projectile that comes at a slow pace towards you. What is tough here is that she mixes this attack with one of her charge attacks which can be tough to dodge and counter at the same time. Once the fight is about to end, she will throw out a lot of poison around her. It is best to stay away at this moment and then attack when she stops with this attack.
Boss #4 – Insatiable Despot
This is also another tough boss to beat that has varying attacks with a lot of damage dealing effects. The first thing it does is throw a large projectile of blood at you. To fight the boss, it is best to stay very close and attack from its back. This is not only effective as the boss is slow at close range, but can also quickly deplete its health for the second phase of the fight. The boss will also summon smaller enemies, but you can stop this by destroying the red crystals in the battle area.
The second phase of the fight brings out a totally different set of attacks. The boss will now have an axe that will become its new weapon, as opposed to the two blades he fought with in the first phase. This axe offers him a lot of range and from behind as well, so you have to be careful as you cannot attack from the back as often as before. Avoid his leaping attack as it will instantly take out a huge chunk of your health. He also has another attack where he smashes the axe in the ground for an explosion. If you get caught in this explosion, you will be killed instantly.
Boss #5 – Argent Wolf Berserker
This boss fight is fought in a small area which can make it quite tough. In addition, the boss loves to swing and follow up with more attacks, and also keep following your position. Since the area is small, the fight offers a little area to dodge and then counter-attack.
This boss usually attacks with its handheld weapon and usually combos a series of swings with it. You have to dodge these attacks completely and try to get behind the boss to attack. If you do this successfully, you can have 2-3 swings at the back to deal some damage. The boss is quick to turn around so be ready to step back and avoid the boss’ attacks.
In the second phase of the battle, the boss will have some blood effect active at all times. This will reduce the blood damage caused by you, making your attacks inflict half the damage. this does not make the fight tougher but only prolongs it. So you can continue with your normal attacks until the boss is defeated.
Boss #6 – Queen’s Knight
This can be a tricky boss fight when you are up against the Queen’s Knight. However, he does not have a lot of moves even though he is quite quick with his attacks. The first attack is the one where he steps forward and thrusts his sword straight in the front. This attack starts quick, but the Knight holds the posture for a long time, leaving him exposed for whiff attacks.
The other attack he has is a three move combo. The first two are vertical and horizontal sword swipes followed by the shield dash. This is the most powerful and toughest move of the knight. Though you can dodge the first move, the knight will follow your direction with the rest of the moves in the combo. You need to make sure that you keep on dodging as far away until the move ends with the shield dash.
When you deplete half of the Knight’s health, he will come up with additional moves which will mostly be to evade your attacks and surprise you with a counter. The first is where he disappears into thin air, and return behind you for an attack. The other attack is when he jump in the air and lands on the ground on your position with his sword smash attack. You need to dodge this at all times, and it is best to have the boss locked when he leaps up, so that you can track when he is about to land.
Your strategy in the fight should be about perfectly timing your dodge and then look for any opening where you can attack. Eventually, the Knight will be defeated and you will end this boss battle.
