Update: Playwing has pushed the PS5 and PS4 versions of Century: Age of Ashes into Summer 2022. There is no confirmed release date at this point however the developer did share this message:
First, please accept our humble apologies. Some of you might be wondering why this delay is happening so close to release; please see below for further details.
Pushing back a release is never pleasant, even more so when we know there is a huge number of players who are wanting to play on PlayStation platforms, and this will most likely be a turning point in the life of Century: Age Of Ashes. Passing certification on PlayStation – what we call ‘going gold’ – right off the back of the Xbox One release and the launch of the debut season, ‘A Shadow Over Skeld’ is a tough challenge. Therefore, we are going to need a little more time to ensure we meet the quality standards to ship on these two platforms.
We know not sharing an exact release date may raise some concerns, but rest assured, bringing Century: Age Of Ashes is our next big release. Our team are currently hard at work debugging the PS4 & PS5 version, while also polishing up the recently released Xbox One version. Season 1 is also being worked on for its balancing issues and prepping for future content. This is now the last stretch before Century takes flight on PlayStation, which means it’s just a matter of days before we share a release date with you all.
Thank you for your continued patience and support of Century: Age Of Ashes.
The Century Team
Playwing has announced the PS5 release date of their competitive dragon combat title Century: Age of Ashes with its Season One launch content details. Century: Age of Ashes will release on PS4 and PS5 tomorrow and the very first season for the game is also launching along with the PlayStation release of the title. Along with the PlayStation release, Century: Age of Ashes is also coming to the previous-gen Xbox One consoles. The new releases will include all of the updates released for the game to this date.
While additional updates are planned for the future, at launch, players will be able to play with a brand-new class The Stormraiser which can harness the power of the electric elements in the game. The new dragon rider class is arriving with Season 1: A Shadow Over Skeld. The expansion update is also bringing a new map to the game called Valkurian Sanctuary, a new DragonPass leveling system, a competitive season, events, and tons of additional features. This is the first major update for Century: Age of Ashes since its full release on PC and Xbox Series X|S earlier this year.

Season 1: A Shadow Over Skeld is the first ever story arc in the lore of the Century which has been written and presented in cinematographic experience.
A shadow is looming far in the south of the world. An army led by overwhelming forces marches towards the Kingdom Of Skeld. The last remnants of hope rest in the clutches of The Stormraisers, strong minded spiritual beings trained for many generations to observe and protect the Valkürian lands.
The new Stormraiser class added to the game is a Tank class and it features a burly Viking rider who is an old soldier forged by the very frozen winds they seek to protect. Stormraisers have the ability to unleash devastating thunder on their foes with the following abilities:
- Chain Lightning (Power)
- Blinding Wave (Ability)
- Frostbolt (Ability)
- Lightning Storm (Rage)
- Valkürian Protection (Passive)
Their dragons of choice are Stonesnouts that are particularly adapted to the extreme conditions of the Valkurian Range. Both the new dragon species and the Stormraiser rider brings dozens of new customizations to the game as well which are unlocked via the DragonPass and other in-game features. The new Valkurian Sanctuary map serves as an outpost for the Stormraisers to use as their strategic base camps in order to protect their territory. The map offers an impressive display of structures and fortresses built by the Skeldian & Jaalandtir Military.
The map will change as the season progresses to reflect the main game events and as the season comes to its climax, players will see massive changes in the map based on the lore-driven evolution in Century’s first-ever PvE event. The new DragonPass is basically a fancy name for the Battle Pass featured in our online shooters. It comes with a Free Tier and a Premium Tier. Details are:
- Free Dragon Pass Tiers / Premium Dragon Pass Tiers ($10 USD)
- 70+ Exclusive Rewards, including 18 dragons, 3 complete Rider Outfits (head, torso, cape, etc), 10+ weapon customisations & 20+ consumables (hard/soft currency, XP boosts)
- New leveling system. Complete missions to earn Levels & Stars, levels unlock reward tiers in the Dragon Pass, spend Stars to buy rewards in-game, and earn hard/soft currency after reaching level 100.
- Lore Books will unlock as the Season unfolds.
Players will also get access to a brand-new competitive Ranked season which will offer exclusive rewards for the best dragon riders in the game. It will feature a brand-new user interface making the mode more accessible and new additions have been made to the mode as well such as new Season Events which now feature PvE events as well. Some other major core gameplay features will be added to this mode after its initial launch as well including a highly-requested new ‘dodge’ move.
All players jumping into the PlayStation version of the game on July 19 will get additional rewards as well if they are PlayStation Plus members. Along with this, from August 2nd, all Xbox GamePlass Ultimate members will get the Krød Slaglands Dragon Bundle’ as a Perk as well. It will include both special cosmetic items and some consumables. Century: Age of Ashes is now available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. It is releasing on PS5 and PS4 tomorrow. Make sure you check out our review of Century: Age of Ashes as well.
