Alongside the creator announcement, the organizers have launched the BitSummit Game Jam 2026, a program designed to bring together students and emerging developers in a short-term collaborative environment. Participants form teams to develop playable projects from concept to presentation within a limited timeframe. The 2026 theme, “Punch: Break Through,” encourages projects centered on momentum and impact, with an added XR category expanding the scope of submissions. Completed projects will be showcased during BitSummit PUNCH, offering visibility to new talent within the indie development space.
First held in 2013, BitSummit has grown from a small gathering of around 200 attendees into one of Japan’s largest indie game events, drawing tens of thousands of visitors annually. The festival has also gained international recognition through coverage and appearances at industry events such as Game Developers Conference, IndieCade, and CEDEC.
BitSummit PUNCH is scheduled to take place in Kyoto, with additional details on sponsors and programming to be announced later.
