World War Z’s Limitless Strain Update Goes Live with New Mutators, Daily Challenges, and Weapon Skins

World War Z Limitless Strain

Saber Interactive has released the Limitless Strain update for World War Z, available now as a free download on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One,  and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The update brings new Horde Mode challenges, mutators, weapon perks, and unlockable customization options, alongside two new premium weapon skin DLC packs.

The update introduces seven new weapon perks to expand loadout options, along with three new customized frames that unlock after hitting specific in-game milestones. Horde Mode also gets a fresh batch of daily challenges for players looking for a tougher test. Alongside all this, World War Z now supports Xbox Play Anywhere, letting anyone who owns a digital copy on the Microsoft Store access both the Xbox and PC versions at no extra cost, with cross-save support carrying over progress, saves, and achievements between platforms.

A set of six new mutators is now live with the update, adding fresh ways to increase the challenge during runs:

  • Lethal Fumes: Booster infects nearby zombies after death
  • Still Alive: Zekes only die from shots to the head (Private Lobby only)
  • Deafening Scream: The Screamer’s sound is deafening at any distance
  • Power Cut: Electric grids are shut down during the wave
  • Overheat: A stationary machine gun can overheat, making it unable to fire
  • Copycat: During the wave, only one type of special zombie appears

Customization experts will be happy to know that two new weapon skin DLC packs are also available today for $4.99 each:

  • Chibi Bunko Weapon Skin Pack: Inspired by playable character Bunko Tatsumi, featuring new looks for the 1911 Protector Pistol, TMP5 SMG, HAMR-17 Battle Rifle, ACW-20 Grenade Launcher, and RPG4 Rocket Launcher
  • Chibi Daniela Weapon Skin Pack: Bright, bold designs for the Mini-21 Scout Rifle, Dunali SxS Double-Barreled Shotgun, LAR Battle Rifle, BSS-2 Multi-Barreled Shotgun, and SchreiTech Forest Warrior Chainsaw

Built on Saber’s proprietary Swarm Engine, World War Z supports solo play with AI squadmates or co-op for up to four players with full crossplay between PC and consoles. Players can take on hordes of zombies across locations including New York, Moscow, Jerusalem, Tokyo, Marseille, Rome/Vatican City, and many others. World War Z is currently available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, along with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
