Crimson Desert Patch 1.04 Adds Difficulty Settings, Housing Upgrades, and Major Quality-of-Life Changes

Crimson Desert Patch 1.04

Developer Pearl Abyss has released patch 1.04 for Crimson Desert, introducing one of the game’s largest post-launch patches so far. The update adds several highly requested features, including selectable difficulty settings, expanded housing storage, new character skills, and broader interface and performance improvements across all platforms.

One of the most significant additions is the new difficulty system, which now allows players to choose between Easy, Normal, and Hard modes from the settings menu. Normal remains the standard experience, while Hard mode increases enemy strength, introduces new boss attack patterns for certain encounters, and tightens parry and dodge timing windows for players looking for a more demanding combat challenge. The patch also adds new skills for key characters and adjusts some attack flows to improve combat responsiveness.

Housing and crafting systems have also received a notable overhaul. Players can now choose from multiple housing layouts and use improved management tools such as bulk furniture retrieval. Storage functionality has been expanded as well, allowing materials stored in housing containers to be accessed directly during crafting and cooking, removing the need to manually transfer items into inventory first.

The update also focuses heavily on usability. New control presets have been added for both keyboard-and-mouse and controller users, while interface changes include inventory category tabs, improved map tools, and clearer shop and quest screens. Accessibility options have also been expanded with the addition of a colorblind mode, reflecting a broader effort to make the game easier to navigate and customize.

On the technical side, patch 1.04 improves environmental rendering, lighting, texture quality, and long-distance character detail, alongside platform-specific optimizations for PC, consoles, and Mac. Stability fixes and bug patches are also included as part of the broader update.

Pearl Abyss also confirmed that Crimson Desert Original Soundtrack Volume 1, featuring 75 tracks, will be released soon as free DLC on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a wider rollout planned for major music streaming platforms.
