This Resident Evil Requiem Combat Guide details everything you should know to kill enemies efficiently while conserving ammo. Running into zombies with almost no bullets is one of the most stressful moments in any Resident Evil game, and Resident Evil Requiem keeps that tension high, especially in Grace’s early sections. Ammo is limited, enemies are tough, and to stay alive, you need to think carefully and avoid wasting resources whenever possible.
Combat Guide – Resident Evil Requiem
As we discussed earlier, ammo is a very critical part of your survival in RE. To avoid running out of ammo, you should focus on the following tips and tricks.
Think Carefully Before Using a Knife
When Grace is grabbed, you can use a knife to escape. However, doing this means the knife stays stuck in the enemy, and you will have to defeat that zombie to recover it, if it doesn’t break first.
Because of that, sometimes it is smarter to save your knife for direct attacks or for breaking small objects instead of using it during a grab. Knives are useful and reusable tools, but they are not unlimited, so don’t panic; use them only if you really have to.
Aim With Purpose
Don’t just fire randomly at zombies. Decide what you are trying to achieve with each shot. Most of the time, you should aim for either the head or the legs. Headshots deal heavy damage and can occasionally destroy the head completely. Leg shots, on the other hand, are great for staggering enemies. When they stumble, you can push past them, escape the area, or follow up with easier shots.
As you play more, you will start noticing that not every enemy needs to be killed. Some infected, especially those that still act somewhat human, can be distracted or avoided. If you are not locked in a room, sometimes running past them is better than wasting bullets.
Upgrade Your Weapon Early
When you reach the care center, you will quickly obtain the B934 pistol. However, the S&S pistol is a better option because it is stronger and holds more ammo. It is found in the Bar & Lounge on the second floor of the West Wing. Getting it isn’t simple, though. Enemies nearby will likely notice you.
A smart approach is to separate threats first: the singer and two zombies, deal with them carefully, then move behind the bar in the corner to grab the S&S pistol. The weapon already contains a few bullets, which might help you escape if things go wrong. Before switching, make sure you empty the old pistol so none of its ammo is wasted.
Crafting Bullets
After picking up the blood collector in the East Wing, you unlock the ability to craft ammo using infected blood and scrap. This can save your life if you are down to your last few shots. In areas where the game forces you into combat, you will often find scrap and transfusion bags nearby, giving you the materials needed to create more bullets on the spot.
Break Down Knives for Resources
Crafting a basic knife costs two scrap pieces. If needed, you can dismantle a knife and get one scrap back. Even if the knife is almost broken, you can still recycle it. This can be helpful when you are desperate for bullets. You can convert that scrap and infected blood to make ammo. Turning leftover materials into ammo is often better than carrying a nearly broken weapon.
Invest in Stabilizers
After obtaining the Ruby, you can unlock the Parlor next to the kitchen in the West Wing. Inside, you will find upgrades that can be purchased with Antique Coins. While all upgrades are valuable, the Stabilizer is especially helpful for saving ammo.
It improves weapon stability and increases damage. That means steadier aim and fewer shots needed to take down enemies.
Grace can also find three Empty Injectors in the Care Center. With enough infected blood, these can be crafted into Stabilizers or Steroids for increased health.
Unlock Advanced Crafting
Once you gain Level 1 Security Clearance, return to the Blood Lab. Inside a locked room, you will find the Reversed Blood Specimen. If you solve the puzzle there, it gives you the recipe to craft Stabilizers and Steroids yourself. Combined with the ones you can buy, this allows up to five total upgrades. Decide carefully how you want to use your limited injectors.
Use the Requiem Wisely
The Requiem is extremely powerful. Its ammo is rare, but it can instantly kill most normal zombies and even tougher roaming enemies like the Chef or the Chunk. It also pierces through multiple enemies, which means you can eliminate several in one shot if they are lined up. Try to position enemies in a straight path before firing to get maximum value from each bullet.
You can unlock the crafting recipe for its ammo by opening a Level 1 locked closet in the East Wing Waiting Room and analyzing the Converged Blood Specimen. The special metal required can be found behind simple locked doors around the care center.
Avoid Unnecessary Fights
Later in the game, some enemies begin to rise who seem to be dead. However, many only react if you move too close. If you see bodies on the ground and don’t want trouble, simply keep your distance and move carefully through the room.
There are also tougher evolved enemies known as Blister Heads. They are faster, stronger, and can take many more headshots than before. Fighting them with a basic pistol wastes a lot of ammo. If possible, avoid them or use a Hemolytic Injector when they are down or unaware. In emergencies, a single Requiem shot to the head is far more efficient than emptying a magazine.
Destroying a zombie’s head completely prevents it from reanimating, but this happens randomly with gunfire. The only guaranteed method, in case of Grace, is using a Hemolytic Injector, and those are limited. Use them only when necessary.
Leon’s Melee Advantage
When playing as Leon, you gain access to a hatchet. Unlike Grace’s knives, it wears down more slowly and can be sharpened anytime by holding the parry button and pressing Square on PlayStation or X on Xbox, even if durability hits zero. It never permanently breaks.
Leon can also perform a finishing attack on staggered enemies, often cutting off their heads. This permanently stops them from reviving and saves a lot of ammunition. In areas filled with enemies, using melee finishers is often smarter than shooting repeatedly.
By avoiding unnecessary fights, you can stretch every bullet much further in Resident Evil Requiem. Ammo is limited, but a smart strategy makes all the difference.
