Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Motorcycle Guide – How to Unlock

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Motorcycle Guide

Many of you will likely come across the motorcycle early on in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but may feel confused about how to unlock it or control it, especially if tutorials were turned off. In this Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Motorcycle Guide, we will show you everything there is to know about the motorcycle in the game.

Unlocking the Vi-O-La Motorcycle in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

You will encounter the Vi-O-La soon after reaching the Volt Forge region. You will be there at Volt Forge looking for the second teleporter key. Even though the motorcycle is visible, you won’t be able to use it right away.

To activate it, you must first restore power to Tower 1. Do this by taking the elevators down to the lowest level of the tower and turning on the lightning rod. Once the power is back on, return to the area where the motorcycle is parked.

There, interact with the Vi-O-La Suit Printer. This unlocks the Vi-O-La Suit, which allows Samus to use the motorcycle. After that, simply press the A button to get on and start riding the brand new Vi-O-La.

How to Ride and Control the Vi-O-La

The Vi-O-La is easy to handle once you understand the basic controls. You can speed up, slow down, and perform special actions using simple button inputs.

To move faster, press R or ZR. To slow down or stop, use L or ZL. If you want to get off the motorcycle, press the + button. This same button can also be used to call the Vi-O-La in areas where riding is allowed.

As you progress further in the game, new abilities become available while riding. These include speed boosts and projectile attacks. You can activate these using specific buttons while staying on the bike. Scanning objects is also possible, but only when the Psychic Visor is active.
