The Outer Worlds 2 has many new features compared to the first one, and one of the best additions is the ‘Pet System’. Once you unlock pets, they will live in a special area inside The Incognito. There are many pets that can be found and unlocked in the game, and when you unlock 5 pets, you will unlock an achievement. Our The Worlds 2 Pets Guide details everything that you need to know about pets in the game.
Pets Guide – The Outer Worlds 2
In Outer Worlds 2, there are three main ways to get new pets:
- Completing missions or quests that reward you with a pet.
- Buying pets from certain vendors around Arcadia.
- Purchasing the Premium Edition of The Outer Worlds 2.
Complete Missions
Early in the game, you can get a pet named Lucy, a Crabble, at the Crabble Ranch. The ranch is located south of the landing pad on Paradise. When you arrive there, you will meet a rancher who is worried because Lucy has eaten too much of Auntie’s Choice Purpleberry Krunch and has fallen ill. Use your medical skills to help Lucy recover. Once she feels better, she will offer to join you on The Incognito.
Buy Pets
You can obtain the Hover Drone, which is found at the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center. To get it, purchase it from the Quartermaster Automech vendor there. However, the vendor will be malfunctioning when you first find it, so you will need to repair it by completing a talk. After fixing the vendor, you will gain access to its trading inventory. From there, you can purchase the Hover Drone pet for 1,000 Bits.
Purchase Premium Edition
If you have the Premium Edition, you will automatically unlock the Sprat pet after you get your first regular pet.
How to Change Pets in Outer Worlds 2
After you have unlocked the pets, you can switch between them anytime while you are on The Incognito.
From the departure door of the ship, walk down the hallway on the left, then take a right. There will be a crafting table and, beside it, a Pet Feeder. Interact with it to open a list of all your unlocked pets. From there:
- Choose the pet you want to activate.
- Confirm your selection.
- Exit the Pet Feeder menu.
Your old pet will disappear, and the new one will instantly take its place.
You can not switch pets until you have unlocked at least one additional pet. So, try to get Lucy the Crabble early, as it will also help you unlock the Premium Sprat pet faster if you have the Premium Edition.
