Xbox and Microsoft have announced a brand-new Xbox Game Pass system, which is going live today for all players. The most important change to Xbox Game Pass is new prices for all tiers of Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which offers everything Xbox has to offer, is now $30, a 50% increase from the previous price of $20. Out of the three Xbox Game Pass tiers, only Ultimate got a raise in its price; the other two tiers, Standard and Premium, are getting some upgrades, but their price remains the same at $10 and $14.99 monthly, respectively.
With the huge price increase, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is also bringing the biggest amount of new content into the mix. Ultimate subscribers are now getting over 7 Day One releases a year. This includes some AAA titles coming soon, like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, High on Life 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, and The Outer Worlds 2. The service also includes Fortnite Crew & Ubisoft+ Classics, along with enhanced Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming quality up to 1440p, Rewards with Xbox, and more.
Since Ultimate already includes EA Play, the biggest addition to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate today is Ubisoft+ Classic, which brings a good selection of classic Ubisoft titles to the service. These games will be available on console, PC, and cloud, and you will find some big names like Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and more in the catalog. Starting November 18, 2025, you will also get access to Fortnite Crew, which is a $11.99 per month service on its own, and it will bring access to Fortnite Battle Pass, 1000 V-Bucks, and more each month, all included with your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Cloud Gaming is getting a boost as well, with increased quality for video game streams and the shortest wait times. Xbox Cloud Gaming is also now out of its Beta phase, and it will keep expanding with more titles soon. Ultimate subscribers are also eligible to earn up to $100 per year with 100K points globally in the Store by playing their favourite games. With an upgraded Rewards program, Ultimate subscribers can get up to 30% value on select Game Pass games, with 4x points on purchases of games and add-ons, 10% back in points on select titles and add-ons, along with up to 20% off on select Game Pass games.
Xbox Game Pass Premium has also received an upgrade. It now offers more games and extends the Xbox gaming experience to console, PC, and cloud. Premium subscribers will now get 200+ games on Xbox consoles, PC, and supported devices at $15. This library is expanding today with 40 new games and is now playable on PC as well, with titles like Hogwarts Legacy and Diablo IV part of the library. Cloud gaming is adding titles benefits for games like League of Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege X. Premium allows players to earn $50 per year (50K points globally) by playing games, 2x points on purchases of games and add-ons, and 5% back in points on select Game Pass games.
Finally, Essential has also been revamped as it includes unlimited cloud gaming, online multiplayer, in-game benefits, and Rewards with Xbox, along with a curated list of around 50+ titles playable on PC and consoles. Titles like Hades, Cities: Skylines – Remastered, Stardew Valley, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide are now fully playable on PC. You will also get unlimited cloud gaming. In-game benefits are also part of the plan for games like League of Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Overwatch 2. Xbox Game Pass Essential subscribers are eligible to earn $25 per year (25K points globally) along with additional points on purchases of games and add-ons.
Starting today, all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will pay $29.99 for their subscription per month. Standard subscribers will be upgraded to Premium at $14.99 per month, while Core subscribers will be upgraded to Essential at $9.99 per month. The price hike in Brazil was 100%! From R$60 to R$120—completely unacceptable!
If Xbox is smart, it should reverse the decision based on feedback from around the world. No one is happy about it.
