Diablo II: Resurrected Will Work with Your Original Diablo II Saves

Diablo II Saves

Blizzard has revealed that Diablo II: Resurrected will work the original Diablo II saves. The original Diablo II was released nearly two decades before however the new remaster seems to be working fine with the old save files just fine. It will be a miracle at this point if players would still have their original Diablo II save files but if they do, they will be able to load them in Diablo II: Resurrected and play as their original characters in the newly remastered version of the game.

This was revealed by the game’s producer Matthew Cederquist who was speaking with IGN Middle East. He detailed:

Back when we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work and we kind of shoved it in and it worked. And we were like, ‘okay, that’s the best feature ever’.

Since Diablo II was originally only released for PC but the Resurrected will be coming to consoles as well, this means that players will be able to import their saves to their consoles as well. This will be possible because Diablo II: Resurrected will support cross-progression so importing a Diablo II save file to Diablo II: Resurrected on PC will technically allow players to move that very saved file to a console as well.

Blizzard revealed Diablo II: Resurrected back at BlizzConline 2021. The game will feature remastered graphics and a complete overhaul of all monsters, heroes, items, spells and everything else in the game. It will feature the full story spanning over five distinct acts and will bring back the classic gameplay that players grew up with. It will also feature some modern features such as cross-progression support with consoles, updated Battle.net support and the ability to switch between modern and retro visuals at any time.

Blizzard has also revealed the PC requirements for the game so you can check them out and make sure that your PC is ready for the game when it comes out.
