Blizzard has released a new behind-the-scenes video for Overwatch 2 which shares additional details about the game including new character design. Staying true to all other announcements at the BlizzConline, the developer did not share a release date for Overwatch 2 as well however Activision has already detailed earlier that we should not expect it to release in 2021 anyway. With the game in full development, the developer might be aiming at a 2022 release date but currently we cannot really say anything on it.
Coming back to the new video, the 39-minute video details a lot of aspects of Overwatch 2. In the video, Jeff Kaplan and many other members of the development team take their time to detail multiple aspects of the game. These include new PvP maps, role updates, new character designs in Overwatch 2, Hero Missions, progression & talents, enemy units, and story development. Overwatch 2 was revealed back at BlizzCon 2019 and since then, we have seen very less information and updates on the game. Since Activision is not planning on releasing the game in 2021, we can expect additional details later this year, most preferably in the second half of the year. The developers explain that they need more time to further polish the game and make sure that it is in its best shape when it comes out.
Overwatch 2 will be the first game in the franchise to have a PvE aspect as well. The Story Missions and the Hero Missions will allow players to dig deeper into the history of the characters featured in the game while teaming up with other players for some PvE action. For the multiplayer part, it will follow the same 6v6 formula that the first game is known for. Additional details will be shared later.
