Volcanoids is set to receive co-op play in the base building survival game. The feature is being developed for the Early Access of the game. The developer of the game, Volcanoid, has more plans for in-game features and enhancements.
The new update will add the biggest feature, which is the co-op multiplayer which will add many new devices and features to support the drillship’s crew. The co-op in the game will be about operating the drillships and managing tasks together as a team. This basically puts players on different tasks to keep the ship functional. While one player controls the ship, others can set up production stations, spy through the periscope, and create new items.
Another co-op feature that is being worked is the bunk beds which will allow players to log off in new bunk beds that work as a safe point. Even if you are offline while your friends are still playing, you will still be able to travel with them since the bed is placed on a mobile base. Logging back into the game will bring you back to the crew immediately, even if they are in some other part of the map. This seems like a pretty neat future in all honesty.
Lastly, the developers have listened to the community and have reworked the crating system. The start of the game will now be focused on being more gradual in terms of introducing new devices and systems. Players complained that the levers and buttons that were available right from the start made it overwhelming for many players.
From now on, players will start with basic crafting stations similar to other survival games and will gradually be introduced to more advanced modules as they progress. We hope this makes the first experience for new players way more enjoyable and removes the frustration of having no idea what all the different buttons do while also getting stressed out by the upcoming eruption.
The developers have also shared their plans for the content in the future. This includes improved COG unit models, new front drills, and new locations.
