Bethesda Delays The Elder Scrolls Blades for the Nintendo Switch, Date Pushed Early Next Year

Elder Scrolls Blades

Bethesda’s free-to-play game The Elder Scrolls Blades has been delayed for the Nintendo Switch, as confirmed by the developer studio. The game was previously set to launch this year as it was originally announced.

The Elder Scrolls Blades is already available on all major platforms, including mobile as well. The free-to-play game was just missing out on the portable Nintendo Switch console, but it seems that eager fans would have to wait out a little longer for that.

Bethesda posted an announcement in a blog post where it was confirmed that the release date is pushed for an early 2020 release. The biggest reason for the delay according to Bethesda is because of the decision to remove chest timers from the game.

We know how eager our players are to dive into Blades on the Nintendo Switch and we’ve been hard at work to make it happen. Unfortunately, amidst all the other changes we’re making to Blades, we’ve had to delay our Switch release until early 2020. We can’t wait until you can begin your quest in Blades on the Switch, and we’re confident this additional time will let us deliver the polished gameplay our fans deserve. We deeply appreciate your patience! As we’ve mentioned in a previous Town Hall, PvP matches will be cross-platform between mobile versions and the Switch version when it releases.

On the other hand, the blog post also confirmed the update that will be coming in December. The new Update 1.5 will remove the chest timers, which were highly unpopular among the players. The new update will totally remove the Chest timers from the game and will allow you to open the Chests immediately.

We’re always looking for ways to improve the player experience in Blades. We’ve heard your feedback, and with Update 1.5, we’re making some huge changes to our loot system, including one of the most highly-requested updates: The complete removal of Chest timers! That’s right – starting with the update, your Chests will open immediately. No longer will you have to wait to see what’s inside!

The update also brings more changes, especially to the loot. Players will get more loot from enemies and much better rewards by beating bosses. Speaking of bosses, every job that you get will now have a boss that you have to fight in order to get the best of the loot. Lastly, you will have more breakables as compared to before, which will give you more loot to collect. It makes us wonder if players will be struggling to carry so much loot in their inventory.
