We have seen some of the most innovative and weird contraptions come out of Nintendo’s stores in the past few years and it seems like the trend is not going to stop. According to a recent patent application submitted by Nintendo in Japan, it seems like that the video game giant is planning to create a brand new ‘Hinged’ Joy-Cons for its flagship console Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has not confirmed this news at this point however it seems the most bizarre accessory for Nintendo Switch so far.
According to Polygon, the patent was filed by Nintendo in Japan recently and shows us what looks like a bent Joy-Con from the top in layman terms. With the help of a hinge, the top side of the Joy-Con is tilted backward at nearly 20 to 30-degree angle and sticks towards the hand which essentially makes holding the console better while it is being used in handheld mode. According to the patent designs, it can still be attached to the Switch console like a normal Joy-Con.
The hinge will allow the Joy-Con to move back and forth and probably lock in the desired location and it will even allow players to use it as a normal Joy-Con as well. This will give players an increased control over their playstyle especially if they are hardcore mobile players who take their Nintendo Switch console everywhere. This will certainly allow them to hold the console much more easily in their hands in different sitting positions.
You can check out the entire patent here and check out the rest of the details as well about the new Joy-Con. We are not exactly sure at this point whether Nintendo plans to actually release this hinged Joy-Con however we are sure that if this is indeed coming out, Nintendo will announce it during one of its upcoming Nintendo Directs.
