Abilities in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom are unlocked when you complete certain missions, shrines, or progress through a region. Below you will find all the abilities and how to use them when you have unlocked each.

Ability #1 – Recall

This ability lets you rewind time so that an object can be moved to its previous location. This allows you to stand Link on an object like a large rock, then use the Recall ability to rewind the time and move the object up in the sky.

How to Get: This ability is unlocked when you go to the Great Sky Island and completed the Nachoyah Shrine. It is part of the main quest called “The Closed Door” where you enter the Temple of Time and automatically get the Recall ability.

Ability #2 – Fuse

Fuse is an important ability that is basically a crafting ability that you can use for weapons and items. Crafting weapons and ammo for better equipment is going to be key in combat and will give you more confidence when fighting enemies. This is why the Fuse ability is one of the most important abilities that you need to unlock and get.

Ability #3 – Ultrahand

Ultrahand works kind of like how the Fuse ability works, but instead of combining and fusing materials together, you are sticking them to each other. This allows you to create various objects like boats, vehicles, and even a plane. You will also use this ability to solve puzzles, making it a useful ability to have.

How to Get: Complete the “Camera Work in the Depths” main quest where Robbie wants you to take a picture of the figure in the Depths. As part of the main quest, you will unlock the ability automatically.

Ability #5 – Autobuild

Autobuild is a very helpful ability that lets you automatically create vehicles without having to use the Ultrahand ability.

How to Get: This ability is unlocked automatically during a main quest called “A Mystery in the Depths”

Ability #6 – Ascend

The Ascend ability is one of the best abilities that the new game gives to players, where you can simply get to a high position, without having to physically climb up and waste all that precious stamina.

How to Get: When you complete the Gutanbac Shrine in the Great Sky Island, you will get this ability unlocked automatically. This Shrine is also part of “The Closed Door” main quest of the game.
