Items Guide – The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
Our Zelda: Link’s Awakening Items Guide details everything that you need to know about finding special items in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Sword
The sword is your most important weapon in Link’s Awakening. You will use it quite often to kill the enemies that litter the world. You will also need your Sword to cut through the bushes that block the path and reveal hidden areas all around the map. To find the sword, you must head back to the starting location of the game.
It is sitting on the same beach where you wake up and begin the game. It is natural that Link dropped the sword at this beach because he washed up at the same beach after the shipwreck. However, you must be careful because the beach is full of enemies and you will need to use your shield against those annoying spiky enemies. Pick up your sword and then make quick work of all these enemies.
Power Bracelet
The Power Bracelet is yet another great item that really helps you in various situations. It is especially useful in finding collectibles because it helps you lift rocks and move them around to make way. You can find the Power Bracelet in Bottle Grotto which is the second dungeon of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. You can get access to Bottle Grotto after completing Tail Cave which is the first dungeon of the game. Inside Bottle Grotto, defeat the mini-boss and you will get Power Bracelet.
Bow
You can purchase the bow from the shopkeeper in Mabe Village. It costs 900 Rupee however you can also steal it for free if you want too, however, the shopkeeper kills you if you return to him later in the game. The entire village also calls you a thief for the rest of the game so it is better to simply purchase the bow.
Hookshot
You can get the Hookshot by completing the fifth dungeon in the game which is called Catfish’s Maw. Defeat Master Stalfos completely and you will get the Hookshot. It is extremely useful in the game.
Roc’s Feather
Roc’s Feather is another useful item to use in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. You can find Roc’s Feather in Tail Cave which is the first dungeon of the game. Roc’s Feather when combined with Pegasus Boots, they give Link a much higher jump.
Pegasus Boots
You will find the Pegasus Boots inside Key Cavern which is the third dungeon of the game. Combine them with Roc’s Feather to increase Link’s jump distance by a great value.
Magic Powder
Magic Powder is yet another useful item that you can use in the game. There are two ways by which you can obtain Magic Powder, however. The first one is from the Witch in the Witch’s Hut located near the Mysterious Forest. Give her some Sleepy Toadstool and the witch will gladly make some Magic Powder for you. Remember that you will need to get it from the Magic Shop inside the hut. It will not be given to you automatically.
A much easier way to obtain some Magic Powder is by playing the Trendy Game in Mabe Village. Play the game and you will get a chance to win some Magic Powder along with some other rewards. The rewards shuffle each time so make sure you keep playing until you find the reward that you are looking for. You can play the game as much as you like.
Flippers
You will need Flippers to swim in various water sections in the game. To do so, you will need the Flippers which are found in the fourth dungeon of the game called The Angler’s Tunnel.
Bananas
As you progress in the main story, you will come to a specific point where you will need to grab hold of some bananas. I am not saying the exact spot when to avoid spoilers but you will know in good time when you need some bananas to progress in the main story. To obtain the bananas, you must win the Yoshi Doll first at the Trendy Game booth near Mabe Village. Once you get it, head back to Papahl’s House and trade Yoshi’s Doll for some ribbon.
The ribbon is then used to obtain some dog food from Chain Chomp located near Madam MeowMeow’s house. Once you have the dog food, you must go to Sale’s Banana Shop located in Toronbo Shores. Now you can trade the dog food with some bananas and continue with your main story.
