Video games can go very, very crazy at times. Unlike nowadays where we pay to unlock characters, back in time, we had to play through the whole game, do all the challenges and a ton of digging to unlock the special/secret characters and oh my it was so freaking cool. Only that sometimes those unlockables in video games would turn out to be super bizarre. Let’s have a look at the weirdest of them all!
10. Fred Durst in WWF Just Bring it!
Yeah you heard it right, the amazing frontman of Limp Bizkit (Multi-platinum recording artist) Fred Durst was a secret playable character in the roster of WWF smackdown just bring it and not only was he properly designed he also had his very one unique set of moves, those dream matches of putting Fred next to Kane and others..yeah someone might have dreamed about those !
9. The Hand in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2
Over the years Tony Hawk games have had many cool special characters that you could unlock that had fan favorites like Spider-man, Darth Maul, Wolvie, and even Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield from Metallica but in one game THUG2 there was the hand which was well.. a hand which was more of a cool thing than to be weird as it gave off a whole different feel and vibe to the gameplay it was like this fingerboard thing. Skating on two fingers than grabbing the board and walking on last two was pretty cool ( just a little unusual )
8. GON In TEKKEN 3
Tekken is a game where you have dead serious men like Kazuya, cute gamer girls like Lucky Chloe and lastly animals like Alex, Akuma and Panda fighting off against each other because why the hell not. Back in Tekken 3 you would come across this secret character who was a tiny little dinosaur who had is own evades and signature moves and who could we ever forget his fart attack.
7. T. Rex in Need for Speed 2
This has to be the worst designed extra in video game history. trust me even crowds from early cricket games had more movement than this model. You had a big T. Rex that wold race instead of a car and that’s about it. There was no movement at all. Not even a tail swing or an eye blink.
6. Toilet Seat In Saints Row 3
Saints Row is home to the most crazy, absurd and silly things the world has to offer be it killing bad guys with giant dildos, a dubstep gun or playing as a toilet seat because what’s better than roaming around steelport stealing cars, stealing cars and shooting gun as a toilet seat that blabs its mouth by continuously opening and closing.
5. The Clintons in NBA Jam Tournament
Back when Bill Clinton was the president of United States he and his wife Hillary Clinton were playable as a team in NBA Jam game, try and get used to the sight of Bill passing away the ball and Hillary jumping 8 feet high to dunk in for a quick score. Yeah, video games can make everything happen even if it’s the inclusion of strong political figures playing a game of basketball!
4. Hornet in Sega Fighter Mega Mix
Sega Fighter Mega Mix was the ultimate franchise fighting game of the Sega that had all their characters in it, the game also had Hornet which was a standing car that would attack by swinging its rear wheels to take down the opponent and not only this it also had its complete back story of a driver getting killed in a car crash later resulting in the birth of Hornet which my friends is a race car that is….alive.
3. Tofu Survivor in Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 2 is one hell of a scary game that puts you in tense, creepy and hostile situations with blood and guts all around, true definition of survival horror genre but what little Capcom did to turn things the other way around was put in a secret mode called “TOFU SURVIVOR” where you played as a giant block of tofu that would do everything Leon would do only that it game the made funny as zombies would want a bite of you (just like humans would bite tofu) and you unlocked this mode by having an A ranking in every scenario,
2. A Blow-Up Sex Doll in Saints Row 3
One of my all-time favorites making its way back to our list yet again with an absurd feature which is playing is a blow-up sex doll that is properly animated be it moving, shooting, fighting or the crazy taunts. Just the thought of seeing a blow-up doll running around shooting people in the face scares me but I guess that’s a norm by now for the people of steelport.
1. Barney in Alien Xenophage Bloodsport
For heaven’s sake really? Out of all those millions of options, they got to chose Barney who’s a kid-friendly character that does acts of kindness and all good in life. Yes, Barney was a secret character in this crazy full of gore game where aliens would tear each other apart with blood splatters everywhere and Barney being a total sweetheart he would go all ruthless on his opponents making sure they aren’t of any use after he’s down winning the blood sport.
That was it for today’s top 10 list and trust me making this almost drove me crazy and I still need time to process the whole barney in an alien game scene. Crazy it is!
