The second World Boss that you can likely face in the Sanctuary region of Diablo 4, is the Wandering Death. The boss is a giant skull that relies on AoE attacks and will require at least 12 players to take on the boss if you want to successfully beat him. This guide will show you how to beath the Wandering Death in Diablo 4, what attacks to look out for, and what rewards you can get in the end.
How to Beat the Wandering Death Boss in Diablo 4
The Wandering Death is a skeletal boss that spawns from a cloud on the ground, collecting bones and forming its skeletal structure before starting the fight. The boss wastes no time attacking you right from the start, and will begin with his ground pound attack, indicated by the green circles.
Although this attack is indicated by its green circle before the Wandering Death unleashes it, the circles gradually get bigger as the boss is about to unleash. This means that you should immediately look to avoid the attack as soon as the green circles appear. Initially, the best place to be during this attack is to dodge behind the boss. The worst part about this attack is that it gets tougher and tougher as the battle progresses because the green circles will appear more.
This ground pound attack will continue as long as the boss’s health stays above 50%. However, the circles will appear more and more, forcing you to be on the move and avoid being caught in one of them.
When you have depleted more than 75% of the boss’ health, it will mainly continue with its ground pound attack, but will also spawn bone traps that can encircle around you and trap you inside, and blow up. You have very little time to get out of the circle if you want to avoid getting damaged. The attack is indicated by the boss when it charges up and starts shaking before unleashing the explosion.
To avoid this attack, you first need to get yourself out of the bone trap once it is laid. You can do so by breaking out from the bone trap before it blows up, or better yet, dodge the attack when you see it. This will allow you to avoid getting trapped inside the bone trap in the first place.
As the battle progresses, the Wandering Death will bring out another new attack, where it will produce spikes from the ground. This is indicated by the ground cracking up, while there will be a dull green light. This indicates that the boss is about to pull out the spikes and damage any character standing on the cracks. Although this attack is manageable at the start, it gets progressively difficult as more and more spikes are produced on the ground.
Finally, the most powerful attack that the Wandering Death has it’s the three-beam attack that rotates all around. There is no way to avoid it if you are thinking of moving away from the beams. However, the best place and the best way to avoid this attack is to stay close to the boss and keep moving along in the gap between the beams.
Beating the Wandering Death will give you Scattered Prisms, legendary and unique items, as well as the Grand Cache along with Gold and XP.
