Publisher Hooded Horse and developer Mohawk Games have announced that a new DLC pack is coming to Old World tomorrow. Hooded Horse released the 4X strategy game Old World last year on PC and The Sacred and The Profane DLC will be arriving in it tomorrow. The new DLC pack will give a religious theme to the game with new narrative content and gameplay features. Apart from this, Old World is also getting Brazilian Portuguese as a new language allowing more players to try out the game in their local language.

The Sacred and The Profane DLC features 350+ new events, over ten new character traits, six new historical figures with their own chains along with religious clergy characters with their own missions and projects, religious dissent, and persecution mechanics, and over ten ‘cult’ city projects. The six new historical characters coming to the game include:
- Mani – the founder on Manichaeism
- Paul – Fiery Christian convert and early Bishop
- Josephus – Jewish rebel, general, and scholar
- Ostanes – One of the rumored great magic users
- Sappho – Greek poetess
- Hypatia – Alexandrian scientist and philosopher
The religious clergy characters are a new type of characters who join the court, similar to courtiers, and they come with their own unique missions and projects. The yields for their missions depend on the religion’s opinion rather than their own. Existing characters can also be inducted into the clergy through a mission by the state religion’s leader. Negative religious opinions can now lead to dissent in the city with the religion. This will result in rebels spawning in your cities and leading to even more events.
To tackle these religious issues, you will have to use either the clergy of the same religion or use force and order the governor to remove them. New cult city projects bring new cult improvements to the game using the same old Shrine models, but each offers its own unique effect now. They also come with their own follow-up events that can cause problems or lead to the leader becoming an initiate.
The Sacred and The Profane DLC is a meaty DLC for Old World and it will release tomorrow, January 16, 2023, for the game on PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store for $4.99.
