These Journal Entries are what Ellie draws in her journal for her record or whatever interests her as she explores the world. Every time you see the icon of a notebook pop up on the screen, this will be the sign that this is a Journal Entry. Journal Entry # 1 – Jackson – Patrol
Keep playing the chapter until you tie up the horse and go to a lookout point with Dina. Trigger the optional conversation here to log your very first Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 2 – Jackson – Patrol
When you reach the library, look for the children’s section and find the iconic stuffed giraffe on a smaller shelf. This is your second Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 3 – Jackson – Packing Up
While inside the house, go to the kitchen and look at Joel’s mug right next to the sink. Interact with it to add the Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 4 – Jackson – Packing Up
Now go upstairs and check inside Joel’s study to find the guitar on a shelf. This will add the Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 5 – Seattle Day One – The Gate
This is the large graffiti sign on the wall that says ‘WLF: Trespassers Killed on Sight’ right before you scale the wall. Interact with it to add the Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 6 – Seattle Day One – Downtown
Head inside Valiant Music Shop after the checkpoint bridge and you will find yet another Journal Entry. Lookout from the lookout point for this one.
Journal Entry # 7 – Seattle Day One – Downtown
This is collected automatically when you read Rabbi Saunder’s Letter located inside a small room while making your way towards the exit of the building. When you are swinging from one balcony to the other one inside the synagogue, make sure that before heading for the exit, you run to the other end of the hall and look inside the room. Check the table’s drawer in the middle and you will find the Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 8 – Seattle Day One – The Tunnels
This one is hard to miss since it is related to the story progression. Inside the tunnels, you will encounter the Shambler for the very first time. After you have killed it, interact with its dead body to add it to your journal.
Journal Entry # 9 – Seattle Day One – The Birthday Gift
Inside the Wyoming Museum, interact with the sign of the huge Tyrannosaurus Rex to add another Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 10 – Seattle Day One – The Birthday Gift
There is a circular bench in the Astronaut section of the museum. Interact with it to add it to your collection.
Journal Entry # 11 – Seattle Day Two – Hillcrest
You will find a huge WLF Poster between Ruston Coffee shop and Used & Rare Books with some graffiti on it. Interact with it to add it to your collection.
Journal Entry # 12 – Seattle Day Two – Finding Strings
Look over the ledge towards the mountains between two trees to find the Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 13 – Seattle Day Two – The Seraphites
While you are inside the office, you will eventually spot the graffiti that says ‘Feel Her Love’ with a symbol on top. Interact with this graffiti to add it to your collection.
Journal Entry # 14 – Seattle Day Two – The Seraphites
You cannot miss this one since this is related to the main story of the game. Keep playing the chapter until you see the hospital for the first time. This is right before she is entering the Seattle Conference Center. At this point, Ellie will automatically add a journal entry to the game.
Journal Entry # 15 – Seattle Day Two – The Seraphites
When you encounter the Scars in the park, kill them all and go towards the bus station. You will find a body here. Interact with it to add the Journal Entry.
Journal Entry # 16 – Seattle Day Three – Road to the Aquarium
Find the children’s section in the large book shop where you will see some mushrooms on a painting on a wall. Interact with the mushrooms to add them to your journal.
Journal Entry # 17 – Seattle Day Three – The Flooded City
When you get stuck because of a barricaded door and must get off the boat to pull a chain in order to proceed further, look to the left side and you will find a set of stairs. Go up and you will reach a room that has a large window overlooking a large Ferris Wheel in the distance. Interact with this window to add it to your journal.
Journal Entry # 18 – Seattle Day Three – Infiltration
Searching Owen’s bag after killing the dog will unlock a Journal Entry for you automatically.
Journal Entry # 19 – Santa Barbara – Pushing Inland
Leave the mansion by crawling under its boundary wall to unlock an automatic Journal Entry. This is story-related so you cannot miss it.
Journal Entry # 20 – Santa Barbara – The Resort
Defeat the Rattlers and follow the train tracks until you find a white van with the Rattlers graffiti blocking the tracks. Interact with the van to add the last Journal Entry.
