The Division 2 DX12 Performance Will Be Better, Optimized For AMD

The Division 2 DX12 Performance

The Division 2 is a few weeks from release and while the previous game was optimized for Nivida hardware, Ubisoft has partnered with AMD and this means that the game will take advantage of the Asynchronous Compute technique which is the strength of AMD hardware. This feature is better on Nvidia Turing cards but most people are using older hardware and have not shifted to the Nvidia RTX series yet. The Division 2 DX12 performance will also be better.

Ubisoft Massive Technical Director Calle Lejdfors talked about how The Division 2 DX12 performance will be better with the use of the Asynchronous Compute technique. The following is what he had to say in this regard:

Yes, we are still very much supporting DX12 and in TCTD2, DX12 performance over DX11 should be even better. This is in large part due to us making better use of Async Compute to parallelize more graphics work to ensure maximal GPU utilization. When it comes to DX12 performance, we are not pulling any punches and will make use of all tools in the toolbox. The only thing we do not yet have is variable rate shading, but rest assured that is an active area of research for future performance improvements.

He also mentioned that improvements to the engine have been made. GIS and LIDAR data are now supported. The game will also support HDR displays which is something that fans have been asking for. The fully procedural destruction tech is pretty much the same as the previous game.

The developers mentioned that destruction needs to be realistic and that everything can be shot and broken realistically. Right now the end-user bandwidth seems to be a limitation when it comes to online gameplay but I guess that can be overlooked if all the other aspects of the game are better than the previous one.

The Division 2 will have 3 Dark Zones that players will be able to check out. The private beta is going to start next month. If you are interested in playing the game then you should check out the requirements of the game as well.

Let us know what you think about The Division 2 DX12 performance being better than the previous game and whether or not you are interested in playing the game when it releases in March.
