Steelrising Unstable Lancer Boss Guide

The first mini boss in Steelrising that you will face in the game is the Unstable Lancer automaton, a boss that can be tricky but with the right technique can be taken down very quickly and without too much work. This Steelrising Unstable Lancer Boss Guide will show you how to beat this first mini boss and what attacks you should expect from it.

Steelrising Unstable Lancer Boss Guide

As you play the game and explore the first area called The Gardens, this is where you will run into the Unstable Lancer, precisely after you interact with the first Vestal checkpoint.

But before you face the boss itself, you first have to fight little automatics and get to the first module where you will find Grade 1 Longevity. This will be followed to the next area where the battle with the Unstable Lancer will begin.

The battle area will be quite tight while the boss will spawn from the ground holding a long spear that it will mostly attack with. Its melee attacks can be quick but are easy to spot as they begin with a small animation, indicating an incoming attack. With quick stabs and swings with the spear, the Unstable Lancer has decent reach, forcing you to time your dodges and blocks.

The best strategy for the battle is to stay close to the boss and carefully look at the boss for its attacks. Staying close ensures that you can solely focus on the boss, rather than allowing smaller automatons to spawn if you stray too far. On the other hand, anticipating the boss’s attacks and preparing for a block will open up a window for you to follow up with your own attacks, leaving the boss pretty helpless if you follow the same pattern over and over, dealing a decent amount of damage in return.

Another good thing about this boss battle is that it continues in one phase, meaning that the boss will not bring in any new attacks, switch weapons and bring in additional moves and ads.

Simply repeating the process of staying close, preparing for its two main attacks, and following up with your own swings will quickly end the battle in your favor.
