Star Citizen Alpha 3.6.0 Adds Hover Mode, New Law System, More to the Game

Star Citizen Alpha 3.6.0

Cloud Imperium Games has released the latest Alpha 3.6.0 for Star Citizen and it brings with it tons of new features and fixes with it. The highlighted features of this update are the brand new Hover mode for ships and a new Law System which has been now implemented in the game. The developer has also revealed some new ships which include some redesigned ships as well.

Starting with the Hover Mode, this mode will engage automatically once a player nears the planet’s surface with atmosphere but the speed is below a certain threshold. With the system engaged, the ship will automatically switch to VTOL thruster modes which will also allow alternate thruster configurations in different scenarios.

The ship will continue to hover until it receives a command from the player. Players will be able to move the ship right and right and forwards and backward while in Hover Mode. Once enough speed is reached again, the VTOL thrusters will shut down and the main rear engine will be powered on to pilot the ship forward.

This will greatly benefit players who are still learning the kinks of flying their ships and forget certain things while playing the game such as maintaining enough speed to keep the ship in the air with the main engines engaged. Along with this, some brand new mechanics have also been added for the ships which include ‘misfire’ events for shields, power plants, coolers, and thrusters.

A brand new ship Intergalactic P-72 Archimedes has also been revealed alongside a new vehicle called Anvil Ballista. This self-propelled air defense system comes with Gatling cannons and missiles that can easily take down enemies both in the air and the ground. Numerous other changes pertaining to ships and weapons are also part of the new Alpha.

The second major highlight of Alpha 3.6.0 is the brand new Law System that has been implemented in the game. With the new Law System in place, crimes are now split into various categories which are enforced in different ways ranging from fines to proper jurisdictions. Each location in the game now has their own regional jurisdictions and they now have their own police force and rules.

Players will now encounter these security forces while moving around in the universe and if they are wanted in any crime, the forces will take appropriate actions against them. Failing to comply with the police will result in a crimestat and they will be attacked resulting in damage to ship, goods or the player. Illegal goods will be removed from the ship immediately if you get caught with them.

For detailed patch notes, you can head to the official site of Star Citizen and check them out. Alpha 3.6.0 is now out for all backers on PC.
