PS Vita Gets Security Update, PS4 Update to Bring HDR Tuning

PS Vita Update

Despite stopping the production of PS Vita, Sony is still working to make the console as secure as possible as the latest update for the handheld console proves. Sony recently released a new v3.71 update for PS Vita which brings a much-needed Homebrew content fix. The new update solely focuses on the security flaw that allows players to run homebrew games on the console.

With the new update in place, homebrew content with not run on the console anymore however the gaming community who still wants to use homebrew games with their console, are not updating their console to the latest firmware. Since Ps Vita requires the latest firmware to connect with the PSN services, the new firmware will ensure that no one using homebrew games can connect to the online service.

This new update comes in response to the latest jailbreak for PS Vita called the Trinity which allowed users of firmware 3.69 and 3.70 to run homebrew games on their console. This new update comes after the discontinuation of the handheld console earlier this year however it seems like technical support is still going strong for the console. I was really surprised to see the new firmware update pop up when I switched on my console after a week of break.

Another welcoming news is that Sony has starting sending beta invites to players for the PS4 firmware 7.00 update. This new update brings with it a very good feature which is the HDR tuning along with the party chat upgrade. The new firmware will allow 16 players to connect in the same party and some general audio improvements. This was shared by a Reddit user talgold.

The main feature for PS4 Pro players will be the HDR tuning which will allow players to adjust how bright or dark a game should look. This looks pretty much similar to normal brightness settings however it will only affect screens that use HDR with the PS4 Pro console. The setting will affect all games and apps that are used on the system.

Which feature are you looking forward to using in the upcoming PS4 firmware upgrade? Let us know in the comments section below.
