Eevee Guide – Pokemon Sword and Shield

Our Pokemon Sword and Shield Eevee Guide details everything that you need to about Eevee in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Where to Find Eevee in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Eevee is actually really easy to get in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The best place to find and catch an Eevee is Route 4. As you explore Route 4, you will come across some yellow grass. Eevee is often hiding inside this yellow grass on either side of the path. You can explore the area to find an Eevee. You can always return later if you don’t find one on your first trip. This will be the wild Eevee that you can evolve in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Getting a Free Eevee with Pokemon Let’s Go, Eevee! Saved File

If you played Pokemon Let’s Go, Eevee! when it came out and still have a saved file on your system, you are eligible for a free Eevee. However, you must note that this Eevee cannot be evolved to any form no matter how high its level gets. To claim your free Eevee, head to the train station near the Wild Area and speak with the children there on the left side of the terminal and you will be able to claim a free Eevee.

How to Evolve Eevee in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Before you consider evolving your Eevee, make sure that it is a wild Eevee and not the one that you received from the train station because of your Pokemon Let’s Go, Eevee! saved file. You will need to ensure that your Eevee is above Level 15. Most of the players are reporting that their Eevee was above Level 15 when they were finally able to evolve it.

Your best bet is around Level 17-19 to evolve your Eevee however it could be a level down or up for you as well so don’t fret. It will evolve before it reaches Level 20 in most cases. Once your Eevee is ready to evolve, you will need to choose an evolution form. Since Eevee comes with multiple evolution forms, you will need to choose one from them.

Once you’ve decided the evolution form you want to go for, obtain the required stone for that form and use it to evolve your Eevee. Each evolution form requires a different evolution stone. We’ve listed them below.

  • Flareon – Fire Stone
  • Jolteon – Thunder Stone
  • Vaporeon – Water Stone
  • Glacion –Ice Stone
  • Leafeon – Leaf Stone

There are actually two more evolution forms for Eevee Umbreon and Espeon. You need to do a few extra steps to evolve your Eevee into these forms.

Evolving your Eevee into Umbreon in Pokemon Sword and Shield

To evolve your Eevee into an Umbreon, you will first need to ensure that your Eevee is your best friend. There are multiple things that will help you befriend your Eevee. Make sure these are met before you evolve your Eevee. You can play with your Eevee, cook with it and fight battles with it. Try not to lose battles with it because it will reduce its friendship level with you. In addition, the evolution level for Umbreon could be a little higher in the range of 22-25. Once all requirements are met, make sure that you evolve your Eevee during the night to evolve it into an Umbreon.

Evolving your Eevee into Espeon in Pokemon Sword and Shield

You will need to follow all steps from the method detailed above for Umbreon however for Espeon, the only difference is that you must evolve your Eevee during the daytime to evolve it into an Espeon. The rest of the method is the same which includes making it your best friend by playing, cooking and winning battles with it. Some players have reported that they were able to evolve their Eevee into as Espeon for as low as Level 19.

Evolving your Eevee into Sylveon in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Another unique evolution form of Eevee is Sylveon and it is even more complicated when compared with that of Espeon and Umbreon. To transform your Eevee into a Sylveon, you will need to start with the basics which are to make really good friends with it. Win battles, play with it and take good care of your Eevee to ensure that your friendship level with it is at least ‘pretty good friends’.

Your Eevee must also have a ‘Fairy’ move otherwise it will not evolve into a Sylveon. Eevee automatically learns ‘Baby-Doll Eyes’ at a certain stage so you need to ensure that your Eevee has learned at least one Fairy move such as the Baby-Doll Eyes. Your Eevee should be higher than Level 25 at least. Higher levels confirm that this requirement is met. This is all that you need to know about evolving your Eevee into a Sylveon.
