Everything You Need to Know About the New PlayStation Stars Program

PlayStation Stars

Yesterday, Sony revealed the brand-new rewards program called PlayStation Stars which is pretty much the same as the Microsoft Points program. PlayStation calls the new PlayStation Stars a loyalty program that will reward you for just signing up for the loyalty program and playing games on your console. PlayStation Stars is a free service and after signing up for the service, you will be eligible for all of the bonuses.

Once you are signed up and all connected with the service, you will then need to play different games and complete a variety of campaigns and activities. The system’s ‘Monthly Check-In’ campaign will require you to play any game to receive a reward while some campaigns will require you to win tournaments, earn specific trophies or be the first player to platinum a title in your local time zone. This will not be limited to just PlayStation Plus members and anyone who signs up for PlayStation Stars will have access to the bonuses.

However, if you are a PlayStation Plus member and you decided to sign up on PlayStation Stars as well, you will be eligible for earning points for purchases you make on the PlayStation Store. PlayStation also revealed ‘digital collectibles’ which are a new type of reward and will come as part of PlayStation Stars. These ‘digital collectibles’ are not NFTs as Sony claims them to be and calls them ‘digital representations of things that PlayStation fans enjoy’. These are based on PlayStation’s portfolio of products and franchises.

These include figurines of iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment offered by Sony and PlayStation along with various devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation. Depending on the rarity of these items, the tasks required to add them to your collection will vary as well. As of now, PlayStation has not announced a release date for PlayStation Stars at this point however additional information about the program will be shared in the coming days.
