MIO: Memories in Orbit Sawlong Boss Guide – How to Defeat

Sawlong in MIO: Memories in Orbit is not a normal boss fight where you stand your ground in an arena and deal damage until the boss is defeated. Instead, this encounter turns into a high-pressure side-scrolling rushing section that tests how well you can move under pressure. The goal isn’t to defeat Sawlong, but to survive and stay ahead while the path unfolds in front of you as the boss is chasing you. This MIO: Memories in Orbit Sawlong Boss Guide details all the tips and tricks you need to defeat Sawlong.

Sawlong Boss Battle Guide – MIO: Memories in Orbit

Sawlong shows up twice during a full playthrough of the game. The first encounter happens in The Vaults, and the second takes place later in The Pit.

When you arrive in the arena, Sawlong jumps from the top and drops in front of you. Then it takes out its front, rear, and right spike arms and slams them into the ground in front of it, and starts chasing you. To avoid it, you need to run away in the opposite direction from Sawlong.

The path in front of you also consists of these spikes, which you can avoid by using double jumps, jumps, or other abilities that you have unlocked so far. There will be some detonatable bombs in front of your path, which will detonate when you jump on them or land a blow and will cause damage to the boss, as shown in the image.

As you progress further, the arena will start throwing some new hazards your way and will drop the spikes from above the roof. You can avoid these by simply not jumping too high above the ground and by maintaining some distance from them while gliding.

Keep avoiding the spikes in the ground, and follow the path in front of you. After some time, you will face a spike in your face, for you will need to drop down and instantly take off in the air to avoid it. Rest is pretty much the same.

Keep running to the right until you find out that there is no path in front of you, and you can only glide forward. You will come across water flowing beneath you, and you need to just cross it by flying forward, using the same tactics as shared above.

The battle continues for some time, so just keep following the path while keeping yourself safe from bombs, spikes, and the boss. While jumping, you may find openings, and during that, you may turn around for a second and attack the boss to deal more damage in addition to the bombs and items in the path. While this is not necessary for the boss fight, but the more damaged the boss is before the final area, the easier it becomes to take down at the end.

At the end, you will come to a dead end. When you reach there, smash on the ground below to open a path, and drop down from there. The boss battle will conclude when you drop down from this path. Once Sawlong drops in front of you, you just need to land some final attacks, and it will be dead.

When Sawlong appears for the second time, the focus shifts entirely to movement. You will need to use almost every ability you’ve unlocked so far to keep up with the route and avoid getting caught. If Sawlong gets too close, the solution isn’t fighting back but learning the path ahead and reacting faster the next time. Memorizing the route becomes just as important as quick reactions.

The best way to handle this encounter is to stay calm and keep moving forward. Hesitation or stopping for even a moment can put you in danger. Concentrate on timing your jumps, dashes, and movement tools cleanly.
